Police looking for e-bike riding
gunman who opened fi re on a
Howard Beach speed camera
Police from the 106th Precinct in Ozone Park are looking
for a suspect who opened fi re on a Department of
Transportation speed camera on Friday, Jan. 7.
Th e man was riding an e-bike through the snow on a quiet
residential street in Howard Beach around 3:18 a.m. when
he came to a stop at the intersection of 86th Street and 158th
Street and pulled out a handgun, police said.
Th e suspect was captured on surveillance video as he fi red
at the speed camera installation several times, striking it
several times, police said.
Th ere were no injuries reported as a result of the shooting
and there have been no arrests, according to the NYPD. Th e
investigation is ongoing.

Pedestrian struck and
killed by unlicensed
driver in Middle
Village: NYPD
A 57-year-old man was struck and
killed by an allegedly unlicensed
driver in Middle Village on the evening
of Th ursday, Jan. 13, according
to the NYPD.
Th e victim was walking in the
vicinity of Metropolitan Avenue
and Rentar Plaza around 7:45 p.m.
when he was hit by a 2007 Cadillac
Escalade, according to police.
Police from the 104th Precinct
in Ridgewood responded to a 911
call of a motor vehicle collision
involving a pedestrian and found
the victim lying in the roadway with
body trauma, police said.
EMS responded and transported
the man in critical condition to Elmhurst
Hospital Center, where he
was pronounced dead, police said.
Joseph Capella, 46, of 75th Street in
Middle Village remained at the scene
and was subsequently taken into custody
and charged with driving without
a license, according to the NYPD.
The identity of the victim is
pending family notifi cation. Th e
investigation by the NYPD Highway
District’s Collision Investigation
Squad is ongoing.

Suspect sought
for deadly Queens
shooting triggered
by dispute: cops
Detectives are looking for
the gunman who murdered a
44-year-old man in a Queens
shooting on the afternoon of
Monday, Jan. 10.
Police said the bloodshed
occurred at about 4:57 p.m. on
Jan. 10 in front of an apartment
building at 132-44 41st Ave. in
Flushing.
According to law enforcement
sources, the unidentifi ed victim
got involved in a dispute with the
unknown gunman. Th e argument
eventually led to violence when
the perpetrator opened fi re, striking
the victim in the neck.
Aft er fi ring the shot, cops said,
the perpetrator fl ed the scene in
an unknown direction.
Offi cers from the 109th Precinct
found the wounded victim
while responding to a 911 call
about an unconscious male at
the location.
EMS rushed the wounded
man to NewYork-Presbyterian
Queens Hospital, where he was
pronounced dead. Police have
withheld his identity, pending
family notifi cation.
So far, no arrests have
been made in the ongoing
investigation.
