of the Moving Image in
Astoria. “Prototype,” a 3-D
Canadian film directed by
Blake Williams, tells the story
of a mysterious televisual
device built and tested as a
major storm strikes Texas in
1900. The experimental scifi
film features various optical
manipulations and archival
material from the aftermath of
the Galveston hurricane that
struck more than 100 years
ago. The film is preceded by
a screening of several shorts.
