Locals raise thousands after 16 people injured in Sunset Park fi re

Brooklynites have come
together to raise thousands
of dollars for the 16 victims of
a devastating fi re in Sunset
Park.
The inferno broke out at
535 46th St. on Oct. 1 at around
11:30 pm, sending around
60 fi refi ghters to the scene,
where they rushed to the second
fl oor of the building and
pulled six people to safety, including
a four-year-old child.
Some of the victims were
unconscious, and FDNY personnel
performed CPR to revive
them.
A total of 16 people sustained
injuries in the blaze,
including four people whose

wounds were considered lifethreatening.
Paramedics
rushed the victims to Maimonides
Children’s Hospital for
treatment of their injuries.
Now, locals have opened
their wallets to raise over
$9,370 dollars for the victims
— and more money continues
to pour into their GoFundMe
campaign.
“Funds will go directly to
the families and pay for temporary
housing, clothes, food,
medical bills, and other miscellaneous
expenses,” the
website reads.
