Police are hunting the subterranean
snatcher who grabbed a man’s phone
at the Grand Army Plaza subway station
on July 2.
The 47-year-old victim told police
that he was waiting on station’s
the Manhattan-bound platform at
around 11:30 a.m., when the thief
swiped the phone from his hand and
ran off, according to authorities.
The victim followed in a brief,
but unsuccessful foot pursuit, as the
looter made his getaway heading toward
Vanderbilt Avenue, according
to police.
Anyone who provides police with
information leading to an arrest can
expect up to a $2,500 reward through
the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers program.

The city will be shutting down lanes
on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway
in the Columbia Street Waterfront District
beginning Friday, July 26, the Department
of Transportation announced
Tuesday.
The lane closures will accommodate
work on the Kane Street Bridge, which
passes over the highway near Hicks
Street, and will variously close one or
two eastbound and westbound driving
lanes during the early hours for approximately
four weeks.
The city has scheduled the closures
for:
• Monday through Friday, when one
lane will be closed from 12 a.m. to 1 a.m
and two lanes will be closed from 1 a.m.
to 5 a.m.
• On Saturday, one lane will be closed
from 12 a.m. to 1 a.m. and two lanes will
be closed 1 a.m. to 6 a.m.
• On Sunday, one lane will be closed
from 12 a.m. to 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. to 9
a.m. Two lanes will be closed 2 a.m. to
7 a.m.
