Police arrested a man for allegedly
shooting an 11-year-old
boy and a 31-year-old man in
Crown Heights on June 20, according
to authorities.
Cops charged 27-year-old
Angel Eaddy on June 21 with
two counts of attempted murder,
four counts of assault, two
counts of reckless endangerment,
and two counts of criminal
possession of a fi rearm, according
to police reports.
The victims were standing
in front of a supermarket
between St. Johns and Lincoln
places when the shooter
opened fi re at around 7 p.m. on
June 20, missing his intended
target, and striking the boy
near his shoulder, while the
man suffered a wound to his
left knee, authorities claim.
“The shooter shot multiple
rounds towards an intended
target which wasn’t hit,” said
Deputy Chief Michael Kemper,
who oversees precincts in
northern Brooklyn, at a press
conference Thursday night.
Paramedics transported
the boy to Kings County Hospital
Center in critical condition
for surgery, according to
police, who said his condition
has stabilized.
The 31-year-old victim, who
also went to Kings County Hospital,
is stable, according to
authorities. Both victims are
expected to live, police say.
Brooklyn residents and
city offi cials expressed an
outpouring of grief and well
wishes for the recovery of
the young shooting victim on
social media, a fi fth grader
at New Bridges Elementary
School, who was scheduled to
graduate on Friday, according
to Pix 11 News .
“We are praying for an 11-
year-old boy in critical condition
after a shooting in Brooklyn
earlier tonight,” tweeted
Mayor Bill de Blasio.
“Thanks to everyone in
our Crown Heights community
who came out to the
scene last night to show support
for our 11-year-old neighbor,
who was victimized by
senseless gun violence,” said
Borough President Eric Adams.
“We pray for the speediest
of recoveries.”
There have been 123 shootings
reported in Brooklyn
since the beginning of the
year, according to police statistics,
89 of which have occurred
in North Brooklyn, which is a
34.8 percent increase from the
number of shootings in all of
2018.
