The former home of Dizzy’s
Diner in Park Slope is
vacant no more, and there’s
a familiar face behind the
counter.
The storefront on the
corner of Ninth Street and
Eighth Avenue is now home
to Parkview Market, a graband
go grill run by Mourad
“Mo” Innab, the son of a longtime
neighborhood business
owner.
Innab, 22, whose father
has run the Eighth Street
Mini Market around the corner
since the early 1990’s, has
worked in his father’s store
since he was eight years old,
and took over the lease from
Dizzy’s owner Matthew Pisciotta
when he closed in
2020.
“When Matthew wanted to
go out of business, I gave him
a call and he said he wouldn’t
be happier to see it go to anybody

else,” said Innab, who
runs Parkview Market with
his brother and brother-inlaw.
Dizzy’s occupied the corner
storefront for 22 years,
garnering a reputation as a
“fi ner diner” with elevated
fare and a laid back atmosphere,
before closing for
good in 2020 when the pandemic
battered their fi -
nances.
“I just didn’t see the balance
of not being able to serve
people inside,” Pisciotta told
Brooklyn Paper at the time.
“I knew what I needed to
make every month to pay my
expenses, and there was no
way that was going to happen.”

Avenue train station, and sits
just one block from Prospect
Park, offering Park Slopers
a convenient place to grab a
sandwich, juice, or snack.
“It’s more like a graband
go snack place, if you’re
going to the park, if you’re
grabbing a quick bite to go
home or to the train,” Innab
said.
Since opening this past
weekend, the store has already
seen a steady fl ow of
customers who know Innab
from his years growing up
behind the counter on Eighth
Street.
“The customers are amazing,
their support is the best
and there are so many of
them I’ve known since I was
a little kid,” he said. “It’s an
understatement to say I have
the best customers.”
“The feeling is surreal,” he
added.
