PARTY IN A BOX

Hosting summer get-togethers
isn’t as simple as it once was, but
high-end catering company Elegant
Affairs has devised a solution for
Long Islanders planning backyard
gatherings during the season of
social distancing.
Party in a Box is a new offering in
which Elegant Affairs’ professional
staff delivers fully prepared topflight
party fare directly to their
clients’ door, so hosts only have to
heat up the proteins and put out
the serving dishes.
“It’s restaurant-quality cuisine,
but it’s specifically designed to
cater for small groups at home, so
when people start entertaining close
friends and family this summer they
have amazing, affordable options,”
says Andrea Correale, president of
Elegant Affairs. “Most of our clients
have sophisticated tastes. They still
want to entertain at home but they
don’t want the typical catered pans
of food that you would get from a
to-go place.”
Correale, who founded her
company at age 16 in the basement
of her parents’ Bethpage home,
notes that Elegant Affairs still
offers full-service, off-premises
catering complete with chefs, wait
staff, and bartenders, but the crew
brings its own mobile kitchen and
stays outside.
Party in a Box was cooked up to
serve those who prefer to avoid
having more people at their
homes than just their close friends
and loved ones during pandemic
restrictions.
“There’s a whole group of people
who really don’t want any staff and
they just really want high-quality
party food that they can put out
for their backyard gatherings,”
she says. “They love it because
it’s an upscale way to entertain
without having to do a lot of work
and without having to bring in an
entire staff to do it.”
The Party in a Box collection
boasts an array of menu options,
including Brunch in a Box,
California Grill Box, Surf & Turf
Box, Smokehouse Box, Baja Box,
and the Room Temperature
Summer Spread. Patrons can
order online in party sizes of
four to six, eight to 10, or any
combination thereof.
Elegant Affairs also offers a
Backyard Barbecue in a Box
that boasts “everything but the
grill,” with meats ranging from
porterhouse steaks and lobster
tails to ribs and lamb chops, plus
all the sides.
“We deliver all of the meats
frozen, then we have a whole
array of room-temperature sides
that you can put out with your
barbecue, that are more upscale,
healthy choices, vegan choices,”
Correale adds. “You can create
your own barbecue.”

she says.
