During this time you will be invited to interface with local artists with talents ranging from visual arts to musical or even theatrical performances. Come visit a local painter in their gallery space or watch a performance! As we move on, in mid-June LIC will be welcoming a new outdoor market overlooking the Midtown Manhattan skyline that will bring the best in food vendors, antiques, art, fashion and much more! LIC FLEA & FOOD will be that great weekend destination to go with friends or family to shop for either a captivating art piece or delicious treat. In this issue we explored the diverse art of Karen Dimit, a sculptor and mosaic artist who carves the true stories behind life’s beauties. We indulged in an exotic hopping cuisine right in our backyard and celebrated the expansion of the beloved Kaufman Astoria Studios. We highlighted an iconic mansion trying to be saved for future generations and a new facility looking to get you away from routine and into its innovative workout. Along with these highlights, this issue also includes details on winning a FREE makeover, getting to know a local pop-rock band letting loose into the music world, an Astoria resident creatively getting the word out on living poop-free and other events that have occurred in LIC in the past month. So, whatever you decide to do this summer, do not forget to enjoy what LIC has to offer. Enjoy a meal, discover local vendors at the flea market or just enjoy a walk exploring and falling more deeply in love with LIC.
