Lee Gates, played by George Clooney, hosts the SriPraPhai Thai Restaurant BY HELENE OELERICH This Thai restaurant has some of the best Thai food in all of New York City. SriPraPhai (pronounced see-PRA-pie) offers memorable dishes that taste “out of this world.” But first, a note about the atmosphere: SriPraPhai has an indoor casual space and a lovely outdoor garden. The garden has a waterfall and many trees and flowers surrounding the tables on a giant patio, which is especially lovely in nice weather. The menu includes appetizers such as salads, shrimp, BBQ pork, steamed dumplings and many more. There are also a variety of soups, noodles, rice dishes, fish and a la carte choices of meat, chicken, pork and seafood. The restaurant is also known for its soft shell crab dishes served with chili, garlic, basil or vegetables or egg, curry powder and scallions. Warning: Just make sure you really mean it when you ask for “very spicy”! There are also delicious desserts, side dishes and cocktails. One of my favorite drinks is a Lychee Margarita. and their coconut ice cream is yummy! The restaurant also offers a full vegetarian menu and has a full-service bar.
