BEWARE OF HOMEOWNER SCAMS 
 This is an actual scenario! A LI manwas recently indicted for allegedly stealing a $1M Brooklyn 
 brownstone in a forged deed scheme from an 80 year old elderly woman. Imagine owning 
 your home and being placed in a predicament that has you baffled and in need of services 
 from law enforcement and the District Attorney’s office. These scenarios are catastrophic for 
 the victim.

 Jasa’s Legal Services for the Elderly and Takai Forde, LMSW a Social Work Supervisor, with 
 Jasa’s LEAP program in Queens, about ways to keep you safe from predators that focus on 
 methods to take your home. 
 Queensboro Council for Social Welfare (QCSW) is a 95+ year old social services agency that 
 facilitates safety programs. QCSW serves the community on many social services levels. The 
 Organization was founded in 1922 and has been assisting Queens’ children, teens, adults 
 and senior citizens. QCSW provides services to clients through their Information and Referral 
 Program. This program serves all “Queens Residents.” Information is available without any 
 fees on: caregiver support, entitlements, job counseling, senior services, personal problems, 
 substance abuse programs, housing rights, crime victims’ assistance, education, and mental 
 health.

 to see when and where they will host their next “Safety” seminar. Participation affords you the 
 opportunity to ask one on one questions and hear about additional services in the community.
