BY TAT BELLAMY-WALKER
The upcoming DC fi lm
“Aquaman 2” will feature
out trans actor and
“Pose” star Indya Moore,
reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The 26-year-old non-binary performer
has snagged the role of Karshon,
a half-human shark who has
psychic powers in the latest DC sequel
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,”
according to The Hollywood
Reporter. The movie is slated to debut
next year and will build on the
adventures of the original “Aquaman”
fi lm, which was released in
2018. Moore, who recently wrapped
up the fi nal season of “Pose,” said
they look forward to joining the cast
of the underwater crew.
“Soooo excited, sooo grateful.
This is going to be good. Thank you
for welcoming me,” Moore wrote

on Instagram.
According to The Hollywood Reporter,
Moore has joined a starstudded
cast, including Jani Zhao,
who plays Stingray, “Clash of the

plays Atlan, the former ruler of the

undersea kingdom Atlantis, and
“Games of Thrones” actor Pilou
Asbaek, who stars in an undisclosed
role.
This news comes more than a
year after Kevin Feige, the president
of Marvel Studios, revealed that an
unreleased Marvel fi lm was slated
to include a transgender character.
Before this announcement, Marvel
added trans actors Zach Barack
and Tyler Luke Cunningham in
“Spider-Man: Far From Home.”
Earlier this year, Marvel Comics
announced that Aaron Fischer, a
gay teenager, known as “Captain
America of the Railways,” would
join the original Captain America,
Steve Rogers, in “The United States
of Captain America,” a series that
explores the hero’s quest to fi nd his
stolen shield.
Moore’s new role is also a step toward
greater trans and non-binary
representation in fi lms. In July, a
GLAAD report showed there were
no transgender or non-binary
characters in theatrical releases
by major studios in 2020.
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”
is slated to hit theaters in
December of 2022.
Elvira Comes Out in New Book
The queen of horror has been dating a woman for 19 years
BY TAT BELLAMY-WALKER
The star behind the 80s
comedy-horror fi lm “Elvira:
Mistress of the
Dark” has offi cially
come out as part of the LGBTQ
community, according to her latest
memoir.
Cassandra Peterson, 70, who is
better known for playing the dark
and spooky hostess, Elvira, opened
up about her 19-year relationship
with Teresa “T” Wierson in her
book, “Yours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoirs
of the Mistress of the Dark,”
which debuted late this month. Peterson
formed a romantic relationship
with Wierson after her divorce
from her then-manager and exhusband,
Mark Pierson. The highfemme
queen of Halloween said
she is excited to share this part of
her identity with the world.
“I’m happy and relieved to fi nally

allow our secret to see the light of
day,” writes Peterson, according to
Entertainment Weekly.
For years, Peterson and Wierson,
who is also her assistant, worried
that coming out would hurt her
brand.
“Would my fans hate me for not

being what they expected me to
be?” she writes in the memoir. “I’m
very aware that there will be some
who will be disappointed and maybe
even angry, but I have to live
with myself, and at this point in
my life, I’ve got to be truthful about
who I am.”
The actress met her partner in
the early 2000s at the Golds Gym
of Hollywood in Los Angeles, California,
reports the Advocate. At
fi rst sight, Peterson admits she assumed
her love interest, Wierson,
was a boy from her masculine gender
expression.
“Often, when I was doing my pre
workout warm-up on the treadmill,
I couldn’t help noticing one
particular trainer — tan, tattooed,
and muscular — stalking across
the gym fl oor, knit cap pulled so
low over his long brown hair that it
nearly covered his eyes,” she writes
in the book, according to the Advocate.
“Dark and brooding, he gave
off such intense energy that when
he crossed the enormous gym
fl oor, the waters parted, and people
stopped in their tracks to stare.”
However, Peterson quickly realized
that she was crushing on a woman
— and has never looked back.
