‘Made in Flushing’ program supports entrepreneurs
Flushing Chamber of Commerce heads marketing effort to promote local businesses
BY CARLOTTA MOHAMED
Flushing entrepreneurs in
need of marketing assistance
and tools to promote their
businesses will receive
support from a new program
launched last week by the
Greater Flushing Chamber
of Commerce.
The Greater Flushing
Chamber of Commerce, in
partnership with New York City
Small Business Services (SBS)
and Sixty-First Productions,
introduced the Made in
Flushing program Jan. 24, in
which participating businesses
will receive free consultation
and technical assistance.
Sixty-First Productions, a
local media company, is helping
to expand business support
services as part of the Flushing
Fantastic district marketing
campaign. The company will
create a custom website, social
media channels, professional
photography or marketing
videos to promote and grow
businesses.
“The new Made in Flushing
program is a great opportunity
for small business owners
who don’t have the resources
for professional marketing.
We look forward to working
with the Flushing business
community,” said Daniel
Nalladurai, co-owner of Sixty-
First Productions.
Taehoon Kim, president of
the Greater Flushing Chamber of
Commerce, said they’re “proud
to bring critical resources to the
business community.”
“Small business owners
face tremendous challenges
in today’s competitive
environment and the Chamber
is doing everything we can to
ensure those who have invested
their blood, sweat, and tears
into their Flushing-based
business continue to survive,
prosper, and have a stake in our
community,” said Kim.
The Made in Flushing
program is part of the
chamber’s three-year district
marketing campaign called
Flushing Fantastic, which is

funded by the NYC Department
of Small Business Services’
(SBS) Neighborhood 360° grant
program, designed to launch
commercial revitalization
projects in partnership
with the chamber and other
local stakeholders.
“Strong neighborhoods
are the backbone of our
city, and the $1.55 million
in investments to Flushing
is going a long way towards
revitalizing key commercial
corridors,” said Gregg Bishop,
commissioner of the city
Department of Small Business
Services. “By working with the
Greater Flushing Chamber of
Commerce, we are responding
to local needs to support small
business growth and build
more vibrant neighborhoods
for all New Yorkers.”
City Councilman
Peter Koo thanked the
organization for its
commitment to supporting
the local economy and
uplifting small businesses.
“In a hyper-competitive
market like Flushing, an
effective marketing campaign
can give your business the
extra boost it needs to succeed.
In a sign of the times, these
free support services look to
shift even more of our momand
pop shops online so they
can reach new customers,
grow their business, and
establish a more permanent
foothold in our community,”
said Koo.
The “Made in Flushing”
marketing program is free,
but priority will be given to
small business owners and
entrepreneurs based in the
Flushing area employing ten or
fewer workers.
