Hudson Guild Theatre Company to host
virtual performance of new play ’A Five
Mile Radius’

A virtual production of a new
play will stream online later
this month.
On Oct. 23-25, the Hudson Guild
Theatre Company will present the
world premiere of Tasha Partee’s “A
Five Mile Radius.” The play, which
will be broadcast live on YouTube,
is directed by Jim Furlong and Devin
Klos.
“A Five Mile Radius” addresses
the current divisive social and political
landscape with issues of class,
race, guns and social media. Set in
a Staten Island apartment complex
on the evening of July 4, “A Five
Mile Radius” follows Edie Pfeiffer, a
popular local food critic from a working
class background, whose career is
on the rise. Pfeiffer’s life is suddenly
upended when her neighbor’s sevenyear
old son is shot, shehe insists
that her assistant use twitter to post
a controversial picture of the boy,
asking for prayers that he survives
and to fi nd the culprit who fi red the
gun, she gets a number of comments,
both supportive and hostile, while it is
simultaneously revealed that Pfeiffer’s
deceased husband belonged to the
NRA. Pfeiffer then has to come to
grips with her past while preparing

for the possible loss of an opportunity
that would help her future.
“A Five Mile Radius” will stream on
the Hudson Guild’s YouTube Channel
at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. and
7:30 p.m. on Oct. 24, and at 2 p.m.
on Oct. 25.

Madame Tussaud’s brings Broadway
singers back for Saturday shows

Though Broadway stages will remain dark until next
spring, New Yorkers don’t have to miss out on musical
theater performances.
Every Saturday in October, Madame Tussauds New
York will hold Broadway performances at 2 p.m. from the
balcony of their A-List room. Each Saturday will feature
a new performer — the series began on Oct. 10 with Ali
Ewoldt, who stars as Christine in “The Phantom of the
Opera” on Broadway.
“Broadway is vital to our city. We hope that this taste
of Broadway fi lls the room with excitement for the bright
future we know lies ahead,” said Mindy Clements, General
Manager at Madame Tussauds New York. “This series of
performances is a natural extension of our immersive and
innovative Broadway experience which allows guests to see
fi rsthand what it takes to make a Broadway show happen
every night.”
“I’m missing Broadway so much so to have a little taste
of Catsor seeing Glenn Close in all her ‘Sunset Boulevard’
refi nery is so exciting,” said Ali Ewoldt. “For those who
don’t often get to step on to a Broadway stage to get to see
it in real life is so thrilling.”
‘Madame Tussauds New York Presents Broadway’ is in
an interactive journey behind the scenes of iconic Broadway
shows. Guests are invited to get ready for their big
performance in a dressing room complete with interactive
makeup fi lters on a digital screen and belt out the fi nale
from The Phantom of the Opera in a fog-fi lled gondola.
The highlight of the experience is a wax fi gure of Grizabella
from the musical, Cats, featuring a 3-D sculpted
head and singing “Memories” which video projection
brings to life.
Also in October, Madame Tussauds New York is offering
an opportunity to see their new iconic Tony Tower, providing
guests with the perfect backdrop for their red-carpet
moment.
