SoHo street

Police need the public’s
help in finding the brute
who clotheslined a senior
woman like a wrestler on a
SoHo street last month.
The NYPD released video of
the violent, random assault which
occurred at 10:10 p.m. on July 27
in front of 179 Mulberry St.
According to law enforcement
sources, the 68-year-old woman
was attacked as she picked up
a storage cart that had been
discarded in a pile of trash left
at the curb.
The video shows the man
walking by and swinging his right
arm at the woman’s face, knocking
her backward. The suspect
casually looked back at the fallen
victim and walked away from the
scene, heading northbound along
Mulberry Street.

Police arrested a Connecticut
man they say ran over a
pedicab driver and fled the
scene, killing him and injuring
his three passengers in Midtown
Manhattan on Friday night.
Mario Sagastumme-Gonzalez,
50, of Stamford allegedly
slammed into Ibrokhim Azizov,
24, on East 42nd Street near
Madison Avenue from behind,
ejecting the pedaler into the
street and driving over him,
before speeding off southbound
on Madison Avenue just before
11:15 p.m. on July 30, according
to police reports.
Azizov, of Brighton Beach,
Brooklyn, had three passengers
in tow: a family visiting the Big

the 5th Precinct. Police said the
woman refused medical attention
at the scene.
As shown on the video, the
attacker had a light complexion
and wore a navy blue shirt with
white rings on the short sleeves,
light blue shorts and black
sneakers.

Four suspects sought for
Washington Heights shootout

Detectives need the public’s
help in finding four
brazen suspects involved
in a Washington Heights shootout
on Saturday evening.
Police released on Sunday
evening video footage of the four
men who traded shots and injured
three bystanders during the shootout
that erupted at about 11:10
p.m. on July 31 near the Marte
Grocery at 362 Audubon Ave.
According to law enforcement
sources, the four men had engaged
in a dispute outside of the location.
The video footage shows one man,
while armed with a handgun,
walking inside the Marte Grocery
store, pursued by three other men,
several of whom were also seen on
camera holding firearms.
As seen in the footage, one
armed man walked behind the
store counter, apparently attempting
to seek safety. The three
other culprits then walked out of
the store. The footage shows the
armed man behind the counter
with a female worker cowering
Paramedics rushed all four
victims to Bellevue Hospital,
whereAzizov driver died of his
injuries. The three tourists only
suffered minor injuries, according
to a police spokeswoman.
NYPD found Sagastumme-
Gonzalez’s abandoned Toyota
Tacoma 10 blocks south at
Third Avenue and East 32nd
Street shortly after the deadly
hit-and-run.
The authorities arrested him
Saturday, July 31, and charged
him with vehicular manslaughter,
leaving the scene, and reckless
driving, according to police.
Footage from the scene posted

next to him in apparent fear of
being shot.
Seconds later, the footage cuts
to the store’s exterior as the man,
who had been behind the counter,
exited the location. Gunfire then
breaks out, sending a group of
people gathered outside the location
running for their lives.
Officers from the 32nd Precinct,
in responding to a 911 call
about the shooting, arrived at
the scene to find three victims: a
42-year-old woman who had been
shot in her left arm; a 58-year-old
woman hit shot in the buttocks;

and a 78-year-old man wounded
in his left arm and abdomen.
The victims were taken to Columbia
Presbyterian and Harlem
Hospital and listed in stable condition,
police said.
The footage clearly shows
three of the four men involved
in the shootout. Their images
are shown below; police did not
provide a physical description of
the perpetrators.

Woman
found fatally
stabbed in
East Harlem

A 38-year-old woman was
found brutally stabbed to
death in the stairwell of an
East Harlem apartment building
on Wednesday morning.
Police made the grisly discovery
at about 6:08 a.m. on Aug. 4 inside
a high-rise structure within the
Wagner Houses public housing
complex at 2390 2nd Ave.
Officers from the 25th Precinct
and NYPD PSA 5 located the unidentified
victim inside a stairwell
floors. At the time of her discovery,
the woman was unconscious and
unresponsive with multiple stab
wounds in her left chest, lower
back and right arm.
EMS rushed her to Harlem
Hospital, where she was pronounced
dead. Police have withheld
her identity, pending family
notification.
The circumstances surrounding
the fatal stabbing are unknown
at this point, law enforcement
sources said.
So far, no arrests have been
made in the ongoing investigation,
police said. A description of a suspect
was not immediately available.
