It is illegal to put batteries, or items that contain batteries in
the trash or recycling—they must be disposed of properly!*
Bring to a SAFE Disposal Event, Special Waste Site or visit
Call2recycle.org.
Rechargeable batteries are commonly
found in cordless power tools, cordless
phones, cordless vacuums, e-bikes,
laptops, cellphones, cameras, two-way
radios, biomedical equipment, etc.
Single-use batteries are not reusable
when they lose their charge. They are
commonly found in musical greeting cards,
remote controls, car keyless entry remotes,
watches, hearing aids, flashlights, smoke
detectors, toys, etc.
* EXCEPTION: Only single-use alkaline batteries (check the label) can be placed in the
trash. These batteries no longer contain mercury.
