C R Y D E R P O I N T OCTOBER 12 Welcom t th Kid ’Zon!!! The Dining Diva: SriPraPhai Thai Restaurant BY HELENE OELERICH This Thai restaurant has some of the best Thai food in all of New York City. SriPraPhai (pronounced see-PRA-pie) offers memorable dishes that taste “out of this world.” But first, a note about the atmosphere: SriPraPhai has an indoor casual space and a lovely outdoor garden. The garden has a waterfall and many trees and flowers surrounding the tables on a giant patio, which is especially lovely in nice weather. The menu includes appetizers such as salads, shrimp, BBQ pork, steamed dumplings and many more. There are also a variety of soups, noodles, rice dishes, fish and a la carte choices of meat, chicken, pork and seafood. The restaurant is also known for its soft shell crab dishes served with chili, garlic, basil or vegetables or egg, curry powder and scallions. Warning: Just make sure you really mean it when you ask for “very spicy”! There are also delicious desserts, side dishes and cocktails. One of my favorite drinks is a Lychee Margarita. and their coconut ice cream is yummy! The restaurant also offers a full vegetarian menu and has a full-service bar. It’s open every day except Wednesdays from 11:30am until 9:30pm. Prices are very reasonable (note: cash only). SriPraPhai is located 64-13 39th Avenue in Woodside. Call 718-899-9599. And, if you happen to be traveling a little bit east, they have a second location on Hillside Avenue in Williston Park. Visit sripraphairestaurant.com for more information. 12 CRYDER POINT COURIER | OCTOBER 2016 | WWW.QUEENSCOURIER.COM Helene and husband Phil enjoy a feast! The Quality of Life Committee organized a poolside party just for kids (well, mostly for kids) on Friday, September 2. Over 35 children and their grown-up companions joined in an afternoon of fun right before the end of the pool season. The three-hour party included games--both in and out of the pool—as well as contests and prizes, all topped off with a slice of pizza from Cascarino’s. This is the second event that was arranged by the revitalized QOL Committee this year following the smashing success of the Adult Pool Party in July. But it won’t be the last: Please check out the flier for the upcoming Halloween parade and party on Saturday, October 15, which is open to ghosts and goblins of all ages. Thanks to all Committee members for making these community events happen. They’re an important part of our community and our community spirit, and everyone looks forward to seeing more of them in the future.
