C R Y D E R P O I N T 4SEPTEMBER Message from the BOARD PRESIDENT CRYDER HAPPENINGS Hello everyone, F i r s t , the serious business: As p r e v i o u s l y announced, the seawall by the 41 B u i l d i n g i n c u r r e d s o m e s i z e a b l e damage as a result of very heavy rains in May, resulting in an extensive increase to the scope of work required. Bids from five contractors were reviewed by the Board in consultation with the engineer. The review included the contractors’ prior experience in seawall repairs/construction, the approach to the project and, of course, estimated cost. The Board voted to award the project to SeaCoast Construction. SeaCoast’s experience includes numerous similar projects in the Long Island area, and members of the Board have gone personally to view the sites and solicit feedback from previous SeaCoast clients. Second, something fun: Did you know that we live at “The Address of Distinction?” Neither did I! That was the marketing tagline that was used to attract high-end tenants to “Cryder’s Point,” as it was called when it first opened sixty years ago. Thanks to shareholder Rick Buser and our terrific Courier editor, Michael Shain, for digging up some cool memorabilia. I hope you enjoy the stroll down memory lane with a few reminiscences from our residents.
