Teenager shot to death
on Lower East Side

Detectives continue to
search for the killer
who shot a 16-year-old
boy to death on the Lower East
Side last week.
Police said the victim took a
bullet to the face at the corner
of Suffolk and Delancey Streets
at about 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 15.
Offi cers from the 7th Precinct
discovered the wounded
teenager unconscious and unresponsive
while responding to
a 911 call about the shooting.
EMS rushed the youngster to
Bellevue Hospital, where he was
pronounced dead. Police have
withheld his identity, pending
family notifi cation.
During the course of their

investigation, police learned
of a second shooting victim,
a 24-year-old man, who was
brought by private means to
Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital
for treatment of a gunshot
wound to the hip. The victim
is expected to make a recovery.
At this time, police do not
yet know his connection to the
16-year-old victim.
The motive for the shooting,
and a description of a suspect,
also remains unknown and under
investigation, police said. So
far, no arrests have been made
in connection with the case.

Would-be thief wanted for trying to rob cab driver at knifepoint in Chinatown

Cops are looking for a would-be
crook who tried to rob a cab driver
at knifepoint in Chinatown.
According to police, at 4:30 a.m. on
Oct. 4 an unknown man hailed a cab at
88 East Broadway. After instructing the
63-year-old male driver to a location, the
suspect, who was in the back seat, pulled
out a knife while the cab was in motion and
held it to the driver’s neck, saying “Give me
your money and you won’t get hurt.”
The driver stopped the cab at northwest
corner of Bayard Street and Bowery and
grabbed the knife. A struggle ensued,
resulting in the suspect fl eeing the vehicle
and running southbound on Bayard Street.
There was no property taken.

Near the turnstiles, cops said,
the two men re-engaged in a
physical dispute. Video footage
obtained by police shows the
suspect being knocked over the
turnstile, then brandishing a knife
moments later.
During the brawl, authorities
reported, the perpetrator stabbed
the victim in the abdomen,
then ran toward the downtown
platform.

responded to the incident. EMS
rushed the victim to Bellevue
Hospital, where he was listed in
stable condition.
As shown in the video footage,
the perpetrator had a medium
complexion and short black hair
while wearing a navy blue Boston
Red Sox hooded sweatshirt and
blue jeans.

NYC Health & Hospitals/Bellevue, where
he was treated and released.
The NYPD released photos of the
suspect taken from inside a commercial
establishment in the vicinity of Canal Street
and Eldridge Street after the incident.
The suspect is described as a 25-year-old
Asian man with short dark hair, a light
complexion and medium build, standing 5
feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a black hooded
jacket, black sweatpants, black sneakers, a
light colored backpack and a black baseball
cap.

Police released video on Oct.
18 of the suspect behind a
brutal assault and stabbing
at a Greenwich Village train station
earlier this month.
Law enforcement sources said
the suspect knifed his 26-year-old
male rival during a protracted
battle that came to a bloody end
at the entrance of the West 4th
Street subway station.
According to police, the trouble
began at about 4:17 a.m. on Oct.
2 when the two men engaged in
a verbal dispute in front of the
7-Eleven store at 135 West 3rd St.
Sources familiar with the case said
the perpetrator became incensed
after the victim said something to
a girl hanging out with the victim
and a group of others.
Cops said the suspect initially
walked away from the argument,
but the 26-year-old male victim
then followed him into the West
4th Street station, near the entrance
to the A/C/E subway lines
at the corner of West 3rd Street
and 6th Avenue.
