Slasher slices man in the face
during Lower East Side argument

Law enforcement agents
are looking for the
knife-wielding suspect
who slashed a 63-year-old
man in the face during an
argument on the Lower East
Side over the weekend.
Police said the assault occurred
at 12:41 p.m. on June
27 in front of an apartment
building on Second Avenue
between East 2nd and 3rd
Streets in the Bowery.
According to authorities,
the victim and suspect became

Precinct, in responding
to a 911 call about the
incident, found the victim
in a hallway with gunshot
wounds to his back and
leg.
Responding paramedics
rushed the victim to Cornell
University Hospital;
he is expected to make a
recovery.

City. The NYPD reported
recently that shootings increased
64% during May;

the shooter who
gunned down a
19-year-old woman and
injured a 21-year-old man
in the Flatiron District early
on Friday morning.

Cops need the public’s help in fi nding
the tough guy who burned a sleeping
homeless man on a Manhattan street
with an ignited fi rework.
Police said the incident happened at 4
a.m. on June 22 along Malcolm X Boulevard
between West 113th and West 114th Streets
in Harlem.
According to law enforcement sources,
the miscreant saw the 66-year-old homeless
man sleeping on the sidewalk and apparently
decided to deliver a rude awakening.
Cops said the perpetrator lit a fi rework
and hurled it at the victim. The fi rework then
detonated, burning the homeless man’s back
and leg.
The suspect had fl ed the scene by the time
offi cers from the 28th Precinct and EMS
arrived.
Paramedics brought the victim to St.
Luke’s Hospital in stable condition.
On June 27, the NYPD released video
footage showing the perpetrator throwing
the ignited fi rework at the victim.

if the two victims were
known to each other.
Paramedics rushed both
victims to Bellevue Hospital,
where Lopez died upon
arrival; the man remains
hospitalized there in stable
condition.
The motive for the
shooting remains under
investigation. A police
source said the two victims
were involved in an argument
with an unidentifi ed
person moments before the
gunfi re.
Cops are now looking for
a male suspect; no further
description was provided.
No arrests have been
made, and the investigation
is ongoing.
