Cops arrest suspect who pushed
senior woman into fire hydrant
on the East Side

Cops arrested a suspect who caused
an elderly woman to smack her
head on a fi re hydrant in Manhattan
last week.
According to police, at 3:23 p.m. on
June 12, a 92-year-old woman was walking
on 3rd Avenue between 15th and
16th Streets when she was pushed by

an unknown man. The victim fell to the
ground and hit her head on a nearby fi re
hydrant.
The suspect then continued down 3rd
Avenue to parts unknown. The victim was
transported to Mount Sinai Beth Israel
Hospital in stable condition.
Following an ongoing investigation, offi -
cers arrested 31-year-old Rashid Brimmage
and charged him with assault.

Woman dies of injuries after being
hit by bus near Grand Army Plaza

A woman died of her
injuries after she
was struck by a
bus near Central Park on
Tuesday morning.
Police say that at 8:52
a.m. on June 16, offi cers
responded to a 911 call regarding
a bicyclist struck by
a bus in the vicinity of 5th
Avenue and 59th Street.
Upon their arrival, offi cers
found a 19-year-old woman
on the street, unconscious
and unresponsive, with
trauma to her head.
A preliminary investigation
found that the victim
was riding her bike southbound
on 5th Avenue when
she collided with an MTA
bus, also going southbound
on 5th Avenue.
EMS responded to the
location and declared the
victim dead at the scene.
Her identity is being
withheld pending family
notifi cation.
The bus driver remained
at the scene following the
collision. The investigation
is ongoing.
