Suspects sought for hitting
cop with car in W. Village

Cops are looking
for a group of
burglars who
clipped a police officer
with his car while fleeing
the scene in West
Village early Monday
morning.
According to police,
at 3:23 a.m. on June 1,
officers responded to
a burglary in progress
at “I Fix Screens” Cell
Phone Store, located at
14 West 8th Street. It

was determined that a
group of unidentified
males had exited two
vehicles at the location
and broke the storefront
window of the location.
When police arrived,
the suspects were fl eeing
into two vehicles,
which police attempted
to block.
One police offi cer exited
a police vehicle to attempt
to stop the suspects
when he was struck by a
late model Ford Explorer
with temporary Wisconsin
plates. That vehicle, along
with a late model Honda
Accord with New Jersey
plates, fl ed the scene eastbound
on 8th street.
EMS brought the offi -
cer to Bellevue Hospital in
stable condition. It is not
clear if the suspects were
connected to the protests
from the night before.

Charges expected for officers
behind brutal East Village arrests

An internal NYPD investigation
recommended disciplinary
action for several
offi cers involved in a May 2 arrest
that turned violent, with criminal
charges expected next week.
The plainclothes offi cers were in
the process of breaking up a group
that was not following social distancing
guidelines when they spotted a
bag of marijuana.
While scuffl ing with the original
suspects, Offi cer Francisco Garcia
tried to keep an onlooker, Donni
Wright, from intervening, advancing
with his taser raised before taking
Wright to the ground and hitting him
multiple times, pinning him down by
the neck and shoulders in an incident
recorded by bystanders.
In all, two men and a woman
were arrested, including Wright.
Garcia was placed on desk duty as
a response.
New York State law sets the guidelines
for the disciplinary proceedings.

Early-morning
creep sought for
groping woman
in East Village

Detectives need the public’s help in fi nding a deviant
who accosted a young woman and felt her up in the
East Village last month.
Police released video footage Friday of the creep sought
for the attack that occurred at 3 a.m. on May 21 in the area
of East 5th Street and Avenue B.
According to law enforcement sources, the suspect
approached the 29-year-old female victim as she walked

through the area and pushed her against a parked car. He
then began to touch her body over her clothing.
After realizing that a bystander had seen the attack, cops
said, the creep took off on foot toward Avenue B.
The incident was reported to the 9th Precinct. No injuries
were reported.
Cops described the suspect as a man between 20 and
30 years of age. He’s pictured in the video footage wearing
a blue cap, a white surgical mask, a red-and-black jacket,
black pants and black-and-white sneakers.
