SPOTLIGHT ON LOWER MANHATTAN
Downtown Alliance Is Offering Two $10,000 Grants To Local Businesses
The Alliance for Downtown New
York is now accepting applications for
our third annual Downtown Digital
Innovation Grant. This is a chance for
two storefront businesses in the Lower
Manhattan business improvement
district $10,000 to grow their business.
From digital marketing to website
enhancements, the grant helps brick-andmortar
businesses better compete and
connect with potential customers online.
Last year, the Downtown Alliance
awarded Downtown Digital Innovation
Grants to B & Co NYC, a modern
spin on the New York deli, that’s been
around since 1997, and Boundless
Plains Espresso, which has helped keep
Lower Manhattan caffeinated since
2017. Each $10,000 grant went toward
improving the shops’ online presence.
In 2018, Martin Busch Jewelers
received the inaugural grant. The
women-owned and operated family
business, which has been operating
since 1954, used their $10,000
winnings to improve their website,
and grow their Facebook and
Instagram presence. Each platform
now features professional photos that
showcase their inventory and makes it
easier for customers to shop the store’s
goods online. Thanks to the grant,
traffic to the Martin Busch website
increased by almost 50 percent.
“Brick-and-mortar stores define
the authentic New York City
experience, and we’ve created this
grant to help businesses succeed in
this increasingly competitive time,”
said Jessica Lappin, president of the
Downtown Alliance. “Over the past
two years, we’ve seen the impact our
support can have, and we want to
continue to boost the success of our
local shops.”
If you own a storefront business
in the Lower Manhattan business
improvement district, you can apply
