Mystery spinner Sunil Narine is
the highest paid West Indies player
in the 2020 Dream 11 Indian
Premier League (ILP, collecting a
whopping US$1.2 million.
This according to sports website
SPORTEKZ who gave an in idea of
the salaries of the players taking
part in this year’s tournament in
which started last month in the
United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Narine has signed up with Kolkata
Knight Riders (KKR) yet again
and is leading their bowling attack
at this year’s tournament.
The Trinidadian spin bowler
recently came off a successful run
at the Caribbean Premier League
(CPL) where he was on the winning
TKR team. He grabbed just
six wickets in the tournament

Virtual 5K

The Jamaica, Queens-based philanthropic
group Team Jamaica Bickle
(TJB) on Friday launched its virtual
5K Run/Walk in aiding Caribbean athletes
competing in the prestigious Penn
Relays at the University of Pennsylvania
in Philadelphia.
The inaugural TJB 5K Run/Walk
was held in conjunction with Awesome
Power Track Club, on Oct. 15, 2011, at
Baisley Park, Queens.
For 2020, the event was held virtually
due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Women Cricket
overhaul

Legendary former West Indies Captain,
Clive Lloyd has called for a complete
overhaul of the women’s game to
set them back on the rise to the top of
world cricket.
Lloyd was offering his recommendation
on the Mason & Guest Show on the
Voice of Barbados radio station recently.
The West Indies women suffered a
whitewash at the hand of hosts England
in their Vitality T20 International series,
losing a rain-reduced final match by
three wickets.
The decline in the West Indies women’s
performances has been precipitous
since they last won the ICC Women’s T20
World Cup in 2016.
