West Indies Women’s Head Selector,
Ann Browne-John said the search
for young talent to give fresh life to
the senior tam program has started.
The West Indies were again outplayed
in the three of the five matches
against England of their current
T20 series.
The West Indies women went down
by 47 runs in their first match at the
County Ground in Derby a week ago.
It was the same margin of defeat that
Stafanie Taylor suffered in the first
game of the five-match rubber last
Monday. In the third game the West
Indies Women lost by 20 runs.
Speaking on the Mason and Guest
cricket talk show in Barbados last
week, Browne-John said the search
was on for younger talent.
“One of the areas we had looked
very seriously at was our youth tournaments,
our Under-19 tournaments
because we have a number of players
who have been playing for a while,”
she said, adding that “some of them
have started to go out of the team
and we have to find the next group of
players coming up.”
The head selector noted, however,
that “we hope going forward we will
be able to unearth talent because like
this team that has come, we have one
new player into the team, who is Kaysia
Shulz, a left-arm orthodox bowler
from Guyana.
She also made a call for the number
of coaches used for this series to be
maintained in the future.
in the T&T High Court, FIFIA’s right to
appoint a Normalization Committee to
manage the affairs of football in T&T.
FIFA had called on the TTFA to withdraw
the matter from the High Court
but although a decision was taken to do
so late last Tuesday night, the withdrawal
did not come in time to meet FIFIA’s
ultimatum of Sept. 23.
A letter from FIFA General Secretary,
Fatma Samoura to the FIFA-appointed
normalization committee chairman
Robert Hadad said: “Starting on Sept.
24, 2020, amongst other consequences,
neither the TTFA’s national teams nor
its clubs will be allowed to participate in
any international competitions.”
It also said the “TTFA and its members
will not benefit from the FIFA’s
or Concacaf financial/development program.”
The FIFA website last Thursday said,
“The Bureau of the FIFA Council today
suspended the TTFA with immediate
effect due to grave violations of the FIFA
Statutes.”
Football officials say one of the main
reasons why FIFA made the decision to
appoint the normalization committee
was because of TTFA’s massive debt of
TT$50 million.
23 deliveries and when she was dismissed
at the start of the 13th over,
West Indies were already facing a tough
task.Dottin who only returned from a
year-long leg injury last February , was
the top-scorer in the first two games
with 69 and 38 and now has 170 runs an
a average of 56 to be the leading scorer
in the series.
The 28-year-old Barbadian had earlier
snatched two wickets in her first
bowl since her return to the side as the
hosts rattled up 153 for six off their 20
overs after choosing to bat first at the
County Ground.
Natalie Sciver struck 82 off 61 balls
to propel England while captain Heather
Knight chipped in with 29 as they
revived the innings after a poor start
and then they stumbled in the middle
overs.
Scores: England 154-6 (20 overs)-
West Indies 134-5 (20 overs). The two
other matches are carded for later this
