he said, noting the “Granger government
must respect the results of
democratic elections and step aside,”
Pompeo said at a briefing.
Washington had been recently
warning of possible sanctions
against Guyanese government officials.
Authorities have accused the
US, Canada, The UK and European
Union envoys of direct meddling in
the elections and for favoring the
PPP over Granger’s coalition.
Reacting Wednesday, government
said it in a statement that it regretted
the decision of the Trump Administration,
pointing to the fact that
“the matter affecting the outcome
of Guyana’s elections is still before
courts, which is entirely the responsibility
of the judiciary. No declaration

The announcement out of Washington
led to widespread speculation
as to who will be victims of the first
round of with several naming the
top cabinet officials and private sector
financiers as among those to lose

individuals who committed these
crimes will be apprehended to face
the fullest extent of the law,” she said.
“I will continue to work with my colleagues
and community partners to
ensure that this madness does not
reoccur in our community.”
Trinidadian-born Williams, who
represents the neighboring 59th
Assembly District said “the violence
plaguing our city and state is a disease
in and of itself.
“The need to preserve life and care
for one another is more important

history and culture,” she said. “I can

and respect for one another,” Williams
urged.
Maisel — whose council district

Gerritsen Beach, Bergen
Beach, Marine Park, Mill Basin, Mill
Island and Sheepshead Bay — noted
that “there were multiple incidents of
drive-by shootings in Canarsie” Monday
night.
“I was horrified and dismayed by
this reckless behavior that left several
people with gun wounds,” he said.
“Thankfully it seems that all of the
victims will survive.
“No matter how many guns our
New York City Police Department take
off the streets, there seems to be a
never-ending supply of illegal guns
coming into the city,” Maisel added.
“These illegal guns, of course, wind
up in the hands of criminals who have
no regard for human life. Enough is
enough!”
