Jamaica’s Minister of Culture,
Gender, Entertainment
and Sport, Olivia Grange,
was among those who sent
condolences to Shabba Ranks
and his family, CNW said.
“She was someone I knew
very well. To hear of her
passing is devastating,” said
Grange in a statement.
Grange, along with Clifton
“Specialist” Dillion, managed
Shabba Ranks for many years
and brought him to international
stardom, CNW said.
“Shabba would talk about
‘Mama Christie’ at every
opportunity he got,” Grange
said. “She was a beautiful
soul who supported her son
in all his endeavours.
“She was his biggest cheerleader,”
she added. “In fact, it
was Shabba’s public display
of love and affection that led
to so many younger artistes
singing about their mothers.”
Grange also noted that the
deejay would never grace a
stage without paying respect
to his mom, according to
CNW.
It said several dancehall
artists also paid tribute to
“Mama Christie,” including
Bounty Killa, Beenie Man
and Dexta Daps.

sweeps, and complete the
entry form by March 12.
All consumers are encouraged
to watch the intimate
acoustic Ziggy Marley concert
whether or not they enter the
sweepstakes, JTB said.
“Our music continues to
be an important reason why
travelers visit our island and
we welcome the partnership
support of Ziggy Marley to
give consumers a taste of
what they are currently missing,”
said Donovan White,
Jamaica’s director of tourism.
“We’ve partnered with
Ziggy on similar initiatives;
however, this was a special
effort which saw him creating
this exclusive acoustic
concert series for the benefit
of our followers and potential
visitors.”
JTB said the Ziggy Marley
Exclusive Concert Trip Give-
Away Sweepstakes is open to
legal residents of the 48 contiguous
United States, including
Washington, D.C., who
have the age of majority in
his or her state or territory of
residence as of the time of the
sweepstakes start date.
Entries must be submitted
by 11:59 pm. EST on March
12, JTB said. It said one lucky
winner will receive a fournight
all-inclusive stay at
Moon Palace Jamaica for two,
including round-trip airfare
and airport transfers.
Two runner-up winners
will receive an exclusive Marley
Gift Pack from Tuff Gong
Records containing vinyl
albums and other collateral

and Ziggy Marley collection.

“Live N Livin” is one of two
albums from the multi-awardwinning
dancehall star, Sean
Paul, offering a collaboration
over confrontation undertone
that showcases unity in dancehall,
according to Jamaican
publicist, Ronnie Tomlinson.
The Brooklyn-based Tomlinson
told Caribbean Life that
the album was inspired by the
perception of members of the
music industry that dancehall
is dead.
“Instead, Sean Paul believes
dancehall is alive and well,
with a strong pulse,” she said.
“Looking to show the world
that dancehall is flourishing
and still birthing stars, ‘Live N
Livin’ showcases over 12 artists
on one body of work.”
Tomlinson said the album is
a strong, collaborative effort,
with 16 tracks all but one, Lion
Heart, featuring an artist.
“It was important to me
to show that in our genre of
dancehall, we don’t need to
clash in order to attain the
spotlight,” Sean Paul said. “We
don’t need to divide our fans
to attain the rotations on the
airwaves or streams.
“Over the years myself,
Shaggy, and more recently
Koffee, Shenseea and others
are tapping into the world
stage, and we are not clashing
our co-workers, nor are we
dividing our fans,” he added.
“This album ‘Live N Livin’ is
an album I hold very dear to
my heart, because it shows
the effort of collaboration over
confrontation.”
The album features veteran
artists like Buju Banton, Damian
“Jr Gong” Marley, Busy Signal,
Mavado, and the younger
generation of artists, such as
Chi Ching Ching, Intense,
Skillibeng and Govana.
“’Live N Livin” is set to be
released on March 12, executively
produced by Sean Paul’s
label Dutty Rock Productions
and distributed by ONErpm.
“We are all excited at ONErpm
to be partnering with Sean
Paul and Dutty Rock for the
release of this timely and well
curated album, ‘Live N Livin,’”
said Martin Price, director,
A&R (North America & Africa).
“We look forward to assist in
broadening the reach of dancehall
globally.”
