 The  Caribbean  teams,  which  
 contested the just-concluded CONCACAF  
 Women’s  Olympic  Qualifying  
 (WOQ)  for  places  in  the Tokyo  
 2020  Olympics  not  only  left  the  
 tournment  empty-handed,  but  the  
 only  time  the  teams  scored  goals  
 was  when  there  was  no  chance  of  
 going ahead. 
 Led  by  Jamaica’s  Reggae  Girlz  
 which catapulted into this Confederation  
 of  North,  Central  American  
 and  Caribbean  Association  
 Football  tournament  following  a  
 sterling  performance  by  playing  
 undefeated  in  a  pre-qualification  
 competition  in  2018  among  16  
 Caribbean  teams,  the  other  two  
 regional teams which made it into  
 the playoff were Haiti and St. Kitts  
 and Nevis.

 Hard-hitting West Indies opener Evin  
 Lewis and middle order batsman Shimron  
 Hetmyer have been axed from the  
 One –Day International (ODI) squad for  
 the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka after  
 failing Cricket West Indies’ (CWI) new  
 fitness standards. 
 In a media release, CWI said the  
 two players did not “attain the new  
 minimum standard fitness required in  
 recent fitness assessments” and would  
 not be part of the 15-man squad led by  
 all-rounder Kieron Pollard.

 Pollard to play  
 county cricket

 West  Indies  One-Day  International  
 and Twenty20 Captain, Kieron Pollard  
 has signed up to play several games for  
 English County Northamptonshire in  
 this year’s Vitality Blast. 
 The 32-year-old all-rounder is set to  
 play eight matches starting from June  
 5 in the tournament, which runs from  
 May 28 to September 5. 
 In  addition  to  boosting  Northamptonshire’s  
 title chances, Pollard said he  
 would be using the campaign to further  
 his preparation for the T20 World Cup  
 in Australia stating in October. 
 Pollard is one of the most soughtafter  
 T20 players, having played extensively  
 in  the  Indian  Premier  League  
 (IPL) for Mumbai Indians, and also  
 turned out in the Australian Big Bash
