For many years now Bermuda has
been relying on a young crop of players
to bolster its women’s football
(soccer) program, and they are poised
to reap the rewards in what will be
an action-packed 2022, according to
CONCACAF.
It said the woman behind putting
those building blocks into place
is Head Coach Naquita Robinson,
who will guide Bermuda in both the
CONCACAF W Qualifiers next month
against Jamaica and Cayman Islands
and the 2022 Concacaf Women’s
Under-20 Championship.
“What we started doing in 2015
was to use our younger players to
enter into these older tournaments,”
Robinson told CONCACAF. “At the

the Under-17s, they were 14 and at

T20 series

Cricket West Indies (CWI) selection
panel has announced the West Indies
T20 squad for the upcoming threematch
series against India later this
month.
The three T20s will be played at Eden
Gardens in Kolkata on Feb.16, 18 and 20
following the three-match ODI series,
which will be played at the Narendra
Midi Stadium on Feb., 6, 9 and 11. Fans
will be allowed in the stadium with a 75
percent capacity.

UWI, CPL launch
sports marketing
program

The University of the West Indies
(UWI) has partnered with the Hero Caribbean
Premier League (CPL) to offer a
new certificate program in Sports Marketing
in June.
Deputy Dean at UWI’S Faculty
of Sport, Amanda Reifer made the
announcement during a ceremony
hosted by the Cave Hill Campus in Barbados
last week.
Reiter said cricket has advanced
through academies and close collaboration
with universities.
This association, she said, will help to
further develop the sport regionally.
“We see the UWI as the partner to
help pull cricket from the doldrums,”
she said.
