COVID-19 has hit the West Indies
tour of Bangladesh as leg-spinner
Hayden Walsh, Jnr. has tested positive
for the virus.
A Cricket West Indies (CWI) media
release last week said, “Following
PCR test administered on Jan. 13,
CWI can confirm that Hayden Walsh,
Jnr. has tested positive for COVID-19
and will now undergo a period of selfisolation.”
The release added that the Leeward
Islands and West Indies legspinner,
who is asymptomatic, first
returned a negative test result on
arrival in Bangladesh and then had a
positive return on his test in Dhaka.
This result was verified by a second
positive test two days after.
Walsh is the second player to be
tested positive since the squads were
announced on Dec.29.

Ambrose seeks
coaching job

Ambrose has applied for England’s fastbowling
coaching job.
Ambrose, who has the lowest bowling
average of any bowler to take 400 Test
wickets (20.99) has applied for the role
of elite fast-bowling coach as advertised
recently by the ECB, according to ESPNcricinfo.
If he is successful, he will be expected
to work with England’s ‘next in line’ pace

Holder to lead
B’dos Pride

West Indies Captain, Jason Holder
will lead Barbados Pride in next month’s
Super50 Cup in Antigua, following his
decision to opt out of the ongoing tour
of Bangladesh.
The highly-rated all-rounder leads
a strong 15-member squad, which
includes the trio of West Indies stars
Shai Hope, Shamarah Brooke and Roston
Chase who also declined selection
for the Bangladesh tour due to “COVID-
19 related concerns.”
Fast bowlers Chemar Holder and
Keon King, currently in Bangladesh
with the West Indies team, have been
included for the Feb. 7-27 tournament.
