One was born in Jamaica, Nick
Richards, the other, Isaiah Stewart,
in New York to migrant Jamaican
parents and they were both last week
drafted into the National Basketball
Association as centers.
Stewart was a first-round pick
for the Portland Trail Blazers and
according to the NBA was, “reportedly
traded to the Detroit Pistons,
after first being dealt to the Rockets.”
New Orleans Pelicans drafted
Richards in the second round then
traded him to the Charlotte Hornets.
The Jamaica Observer newspaper
reported, “Stewart and Richards
were the first Jamaicans to be picked
in the NBA Draft since Jerome Jordan
was selected by the Milwaukee
Bucks in 2010.”

Cricket West Indies (CWI) President,
Ricky Skerritt said that the constant
changes in personnel in West Indies
cricket over the past two decades have
not led to positive results on the cricket
field.
He said the changes have caused the
regional cricket body to spend excessively.

FIFA, the world’s governing body for
football, has lifted the suspension of the
Trinidad and Tobago Football Association
(TTFA), with immediate effect.
FIFA, in a media release last week
stated, “after taking note of the (Oct.23)
decision of the Trinidad and Tobago
Court of Appeal and the express wish of
the members of the TTFA for all associated
legal claims brought by the parties
purporting to act in the name of
the organization to be terminated, the
Bureau of the FIFA Council has decided
to lift the suspension of the TTFA with
immediate effect.”
“This means that all of the TTFA
membership rights have been reinstated
and TTFA representatives and club
teams are again entitled to take part
