Trinidadian vocal “vanguard for
justice” artist Melly Rose has teamed
up with Afrobeat, Nigerian sensation
Skales in releasing an uplifting new
single, “Shine Pon Me.”
“Shine Pon Me” calls for listeners
to “keep their heads held up high during
a rough 2020,” according to Haitian
American entertainment guru,
Marie Driven, managing partner of
the Brooklyn-based PlaybookMG.
Driven told Caribbean Life on
Monday that the single is featured on
the Afro/Caribbean project, “Tender
Touch Ridem,” with Rose and Skales,
along with Trinidadian soca artists
Nailah Blackman and Patrice Roberts,
and Hey Choppi and Olatunji.
“A colorful and charming music
video featuring the two, showcasing
beautiful luscious backdrops that
captures the eyes of viewers,” complements
the “cheerful new song,”
Driven said.
“Overall, the new single uplifts
the spirits of fans all over the world
by infusing joy with every listen of
the audio and views of the single,”

Alton Aimable, the St. Lucian-born
president and founder of the Brooklynbased
cultural group, Tropicalfete, said
its International Creole Day/Jounen
Kwéyòl on Sunday “showed the depth
of the organization’s commitment to
culture.”
“The board moves forward with a
united goal of representing all aspects
of Caribbean culture to forge unity in
the Caribbean community,” Aimable
told Caribbean Life after Sunday’s virtual
performance.
He said the featured act was Alegba
and Friends, “who has taken New York
City by storm” with its nightly concerts
at the boathouse in Brooklyn’s Prospect
Park.
