 Haiti  thrashed  Barbados  4-0  and  
 the  Dominican  Republic  beat  St.  
 Kitts and Nevis 2-0 Sunday to qualify  
 for the only two Caribbean Zone  
 places in the 2020 CONCACAF Men’s  
 Olympic Qualifying Championship. 
 This  is  the  third  appearance  for  
 Haiti and a first for the Dominican  
 Republic in this championship round  
 of eight teams for the Confederation  
 of North, Central American and Caribbean  
 Association Football (CONCACAF) 
  out of which the two top  
 teams  will  go  on  to  the  2020  Japan  
 Summer Olympics. 
 The other six teams, in this U-23  
 age-restricted,  competition  joining  
 the two Caribbean sides in the championship  
 to  be  played  during March  
 next year in Guadalajara, Mexico, are  
 Canada, Mexico, United States, Costa  
 Rica, El Salvador and Honduras.

 Search on for  
 Windies coach

 Cricket West Indies (CWI) has begun  
 the search for a new full-time coach. 
 This was announced by CWI Director  
 of Cricket, Jimmy Adams at a recent  
 media  briefing,  which  also  outlined  
 a new selection policy for the men’s,  
 women’s and youth team. 
 Adams said the search for a permanent  
 coach will be “specifically regional” 
  adding that the process will end on  
 Sept. 20, after which “the interview  
 process will start.”

 T&T cyclist  
 shatters record

 Trinidad and Tobago cyclist Nicholas  
 Paul shattered the world record, in the  
 flying 200 meters at the recent Elite  
 Pan American Track Cycling Championships, 
  in Cochabamba, Bolivia. 
 Paul blazed across the line in a time  
 of  9.100  seconds,  breaking  France’s  
 Francois  Pervis’  2013  record  of  9.347  
 seconds. He also broke his own Pan  
 American record of 9.378 seconds which  
 he set in Mexico in 2018. 
 He  also  took  gold when he  defeated  
 Jair  Tjon  En  Far  of  Suriname  in  two  
 rides in the final a day before with a  
 blistering 9.583 time. 
 Paul  had  also  helped  his  team  to  a  
 new Pan Am record in the Team Sprint  
 a few days before, produced more blinding  
 speed in the flying 200 meters event
