Panama on Tuesday played its best
game of the 2021 Gold Cup, but,
unfortunately, it was not enough to
see them advance to the quarterfinals,
according to CONCACAF.
It said that Los Canaleros were
impressive in their Group D finale,
cruising past Grenada in a 3-1 win at
Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Fl.
Yet, due to Qatar beating Honduras
2-0, Panama was, unfortunately,
held out of moving forward in the
Gold Cup, CONCACAF said.
“Panama could not have asked for
a better start,” it said. “In the sixth
minute, the team pulled off a dazzling
display of accurate passes that
eventually ended up in the feet of
forward Alberto Quintero.
“He would blast the ball to the far
post, an impossible shot for Grenada
goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook to

West Indies stalwart, Chris Gayle has
highlighted the team unity during the
Twenty20 series against Australia following
his match-winning knock of 67 in
the third match at the Darren Sammy
National Cricket Stadium in St. Lucia
last week.
Gayle smashed 67 off 38 deliveries with
four fours and seven sixes to make it 4-0
in the five-match series. Australia won the
fourth game by four runs.

A depleted Australian team was no
match for a strong West Indies side
when they lost the five-match Twenty20
series (4-1) at the Darren Sammy
National Cricket Ground in St. Lucia.
Australia was only able to scrape
through the fourth match by a meager
4 runs.
In the final match last Friday night,
the West Indies was victorious by 16
runs.
Opener Evin Lewis cracked 79 runs
off 34 balls, hitting nine sixes to lead
the hosts to their highest score of the
series — 199 for eight.
