The embattled West Indies team
suffered a 2 – 0 whitewash against
South Africa on Monday at the Darren
Sammy Cricket Ground in St.
Lucia.
The regional team was defeated by
an innings and 63 runs inside three
days in the first Test and again it was
the team’s poor batting that let them
down.
South African spin bowler Keshav
Maharaj snatched a dramatic hattrick
in a devastating five-wicket haul
that sent West Indies crashing to a
158-run loss on the fourth day half an
hour before tea.
Resuming on 15 without loss after
bowling out South Africa for 174 (
a lead of 169), the Caribbean side

West Indies cricket legends Sir Learie
Constantine and Desmond Haynes were
recently inducted into the International
Cricket Council’s (ICC) Hall of Fame,
joining a list of 18 West Indies icons that
have previously received this prestigious
honor.
According to the ICC, the duo was part
of a special edition intake of 10 cricket
icons into the Hall of Fame “to celebrate
the prestigious history of Test cricket and
to coincide with the first ever ICC World
Test Championship Final.”

The provisional rosters for the 2021
CONCACAF Gold Cup are now out, with
many star-studded names filling the
potential squads of teams around the
region, according to CONCACAF.
In looking at the Caribbean teams
already qualified for the Gold Cup group
stage, CONCACAF said one of the standout
names on the list for Jamaica is
winger Leon Bailey.
“The 23-year-old Bayer Leverkusen
man played a big part in Jamaica’s semifinal
finish in 2019 and now he returns to
try to lead Jamaica to their third Gold Cup
Final in four tries,” CONCACAF said.
It said Bailey also appeared in two
matches with the Reggae Boyz in the
2019-20 CONCACAF Nations League and
scored his first Jamaica goal in a 6-0
