NYC present s Daniel Rozin
‘Shades’: Tuesdays – Saturdays, 11 am – 6
pm, through April 23. Description: Daniel
Rozin’s practice has investigated the nuance
of reflected portraiture and mechanical
choreography for nearly three decades. In his
latest exhibition, the artist pairs the evanescent
experience of live image creation with a
variety of new materials. Rozin implements a
masterful manipulation of light and shadow
to create complex dynamic images and colors,
the focus of which grants this exhibition its
name. Rozin is an expert with uncanny materials—
a challenge he implements as an artistic
constraint. In Chopstick Mirror the artist
refigures a familiar dining utensil into an
element of representation. Although the artwork
is intrinsically mechanical, it attempts
to display the viewer by echoing the fluidity
of their motion. The resulting depictions are
interactive images investigated through the
constraint of one-dimensional linear objects.
This piece acts as an experiment beyond the
mirror, inviting reactions from the piece itself,
such as gestures of friendliness, surprise, and
coyness, in addition to generative routines and
sonic compositions. bitforms.art/exhibitio…

Thursday, April 7. NYC Rocks LI –
2/14, Cab Ellis, Joudy at Amityville
Music Hall: Description: Few things feel
like the first time every time. Come see 2/14,
NYC rock band, live for the first time, featuring
Cab Ellis and Joudy. All bands will be
performing to promote upcoming independent
album releases (2022). Who said rock
had died? About the Artists: Cab Ellis: For 3
weeks in August 2021, Cab Ellis holed up in
farmhouse converted recording studio, Bear
Creek Studio in Washington State to record
their second album, “The East Coast Hold On”
(releasing April 2022) with Producer, Gordon
Raphael of The Strokes and Regina Spektor
fame. NYC-based, Cab Ellis are Connor
Abeles (vocals, piano, guitar), Matt Richards
(sax, clarinet, flute), Jonny Sim (guitar), Nick
Petrou (bass) and Chris Cotton (drums).
2/14: NYC born and bred, 2/14’s Sky Carlson
(guitarist, vocalist) with Ben Bustamante
(drums) and Dylan Taganas (bass) perform
songs from their upcoming debut LP, “Adrienne’s
Garden,” inspired by teenage angst and
1990’s pop punk – naturally. Joudy: These
Venezuelan experimental rockers are apt to
be influenced as much by British trip-hop as
1990’s American grunge. Joudy serves up dark
tones, light melodies and hypnotic rhythms
to invoke a new mystical lyricism backed by
textural power chords ahead of their third LP
(releasing 2022). NYC-based Joudy are Diego
Ramirez (vocals, guitar), Gabriel Gavidia
(bass), and Ulrich Navas (drums). phong@

eclectic architecture of old Havana, the diverse
interior combines colonial European influences
with 20th century modernism. The design
features French antiques and plantation style
rattan furniture, covered in rich velvets and
brocades, resembling a stately home that has
stood still in Cuban History. A tribute to the
