
BCC hires Long Island soccer coach
Dan Cinelli will lead Bronx college’s soccer team in quest for CUNY title

The Bronx Community College
Broncos men’s soccer team will be
kicking off the 2021 season with
some new, reputable leadership
at the helm after a 5-7-1 campaign
last year.
Dan Cinelli, an experienced and
successful Long Island high school
soccer coach will be taking on the
Bronco’s head coaching role come
this April.
According to BCC Athletic Director
Ryan McCarthy, Cinelli is
bringing with him, “fantastic experiences
building winning programs
at the local club and high
school levels, in addition to having
tremendous playing and educational
experiences in and around
As an athlete, Cinelli won the
NEC conference and reached the
NCAA tournament with Fairleigh
Dickinson University in 2003, later
going on to play for Nassau Community
College and then Marist
Cinelli spent the previous three
years of his coaching career in
charge of New Hyde Park Memorial
High School in Nassau County, leading
the Gladiators to its fi rst playoff
appearance in 12 seasons in addition
to a second run for the crown.
New Hyde Park went undefeated
in that sequel run, where the Gladiators
were ranked in Long Island’s
top 10 teams and number 18 overall
in New York state by the New York
State Sports Writers Association.
As result of the mega program
turnaround, Cinelli was voted Nassau
County Conference A1 Coach of
the Year.
In recent years, he has also
served as the head coach of Kosmos
Athletic Culture as well as both a
coach and trainer at Flushing Futbol
Academy where he is also the director
of youth soccer.
BCC boasted that Cinelli is also
a concussion certifi ed coach and is
currently attending Ohio University
to obtain a master’s degree in soccer
coaching education — the only soccer
sport specifi c master’s degree in
the country.
The Broncos open next season on
the road in Middletown against Orange
County Community College
on Saturday, April 3; that’s when
Cinelli and BCC begin their quest for
a CUNY athletic conference title.
