BRONX TIMES REPORTER,38 NOV. 27-DEC. 3, 2020 BTR
BY TONY SALIMBENE
The commander and staff
wish all of you a happy and
healthy Thanksgiving! I remember
major celebrations
at my home with NYPD and
FDNY family members stopping
by for orders to go, and
of course holiday celebrations
at the Wissman Mansion post
and our newest building. Let’s
try to focus on the good times.
We have to modify what
we do until this health crisis
subsides, so please visit following
all precautions. Don’t
make me tell Santa you’re
not behaving!
My heartfelt praise to Korony
Post Heroes who will try
to keep holiday programs going
as best as possible to bring
some cheer during an especially
diffi cult holiday season!
May you get double holiday
blessings in return.
You may have seen the food
bank next door to Alfi e’s Pub?
Double blessings to you too,
my friend the church lady!
To Bronx County Posts
members and my friends and
neighbors reading this; special
wishes from 253 for a best
as possible Thanksgiving.
Thankful for what? How
about our veteran comrades
keeping the faith for those on
active duty or in need of medical
or social services; our
Auxiliary Unit for always being
the helping hand; our Sons
Squadron who will Never Forget
the service and sacrifi ce of
dads and granddads. Remember
how they would respond
in times of crisis!
More info about our
next 3rd Sunday meeting
soon. So…
Until next time: Everyone
sing! Tis’ the season to social
distance and to wear a mask
and wash your hands. (“Deck
The Halls”- get it?)

Happy Thanksgiving
wishes to everyone. Our sincerest
wish is to see the true
spirit of this meaningful day
enter into every heart, mind
and home during this unprecedented
period of pandemic.
It is essential to recognize, appreciate
and cherish the little
things in life. To quote the
words of famed singer-songwriter
Joni Mitchell, “Don’t
it always seem to go, that you
don’t know what you’ve got til
it’s gone.” Relationships with
family, friends and neighbors
are priceless. These valuable,
but at times fragile, gifts
must be handled with the utmost
care…never be frayed,
fractured nor broken due to
petty silliness, political or
ideological differences.
The Spencer Estate Civic
Association sends heartfelt
thanks to our fi ne community
residents. The appreciation
for your support and care for
our community transcends
adequate words. We are truly
blessed to live in a fi ne community
among quality people
in the greatest nation on
earth. Remember: “Inclusion
Brings Solutions.”

Thank you to all who donated
to our annual turkey
drive for veteran families
across the Bronx in transitional
housing. Your generous
donations helped us purchase
everything 26 families will
need to have a wonderful family
gathering with a turkey
and all the trimmings. We
took special care to make sure
no one was forgotten.
Thanks to Ravi Rampersaud,
the nonprofi t director,
for picking up twice yesterday
and delivering turkeys and all
the sides for a perfect meal.
COVID has been a challenge
but there are safe
ways to get the job done.
Service not self.
