GOP Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham have the audacity to say: “In the untimely death
of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (which was less than a month ago), we must diligently do our
jobs and fi ll the now vacated Supreme Court seat.” Where was this DILIGENCE for President
Obama and his nominee Merrick Garland following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, nearly
10 months prior to Election Day?? As Jesus said to the Pharisees: “YOU HYPOCRITES!!”

Ship of Peril
Dear editor,
We fi nd ourselves on an
immense ocean liner far out
at sea. All of us as passengers
are fully dependent upon this
ship for our sustenance, survival
and future, and it also
determines the lives of our
children and grandchildren.
It so happens, that in complete
contrast to what one
would expect of a captain, our
captain has never learned
how to navigate and in fact
steers the liner headlong
into storms. As if this were
not bad enough, he, with his
fi rst mate and crew have decided
that it makes sense to
drill holes in the hull of the
ship, in order to let out bilge
water collecting from the
waves crashing against the
hull and washing the deck.
While about sixty percent
of us voice our fear and profound
sense of horror, there
are those forty percent that
see these as wise decisions,
because they believe in this
mad captain with a misdirected
reverence as if he
were god. His every action is
regarded as perfect in serving
their best interests no
matter how bizarre and destructive
those actions may
be to them and the rest of us.
And there are those stragglers,
who remain undecided
about the motives and wisdom
of our captain, in the
same way a man can’t make
up his mind as to whether it’s
a good thing or a bad thing to
have his left leg cut off and
needs to ponder the issue
more. As one would expect,
the ship is listing and sinking.
Many protest his reckless
deeds, but to no avail,
as our efforts are subverted
by those who continue allegiance
to the very man who
is stealing our future and endangering
all of us and generations
to come.
The decision that stands
before everyone is this: do
we continue to let this go on,
such that we are all pulled
down to Davy Jones’ Locker,
or do we voice ourselves as
an overwhelming majority
for his removal? The vote is
our voice.

This modern 20th century
2020 Our country has come a
long way from the beginning
of time, so it seems to me we
are going back to the middle
ages. Who are we as a nation
that has preceded every other
county in the world!
So, who are we today?
What has happened to Respect
one another, Loyalty, Caring,
To Love one another, as you
would yourself.
We are the greatest Country
in the world, and still there
is hate, Greed, Dissenting, and
what color is our skin! our God
never mentioned the color of
our skin! It has become the
most important fact today! So
why is it such an issue with
some of us today. We are all
God’s children; He didn’t make
it an issue!
Who are We? We all do
the same thing every day,
Eat, Sleep, Work, Play and
Love, yes, we are different in
other ways of our lives, we
can be different with Respect
and Kindness.
Think about the Middle
Ages Man, they clubbed one
another to death for their
place in the world!
Is that who we are? There is
a Devil among us, and he will
always be there, if we let him
into our Hearts and mind.
Never have we witnessed
such, Hate, Rape, killing for
no unearthly reason! Who
are we?
It’s a vicious cycle that will
not be broken, if we the people
don’t break the chain it will
never stop or end!
I know many might feel
there is no Justice, and she
is Blind! Yes, she is Blind at
times, but God is our Justice!
Do we blame the Sings of
our Fathers and Ancestries?
for all our misgivings, Hate,
Greed, and forgetting to Love
one Another, We were not even
in their thoughts then! So
Who are we?
The Neotherthal Man, of
the Middle Ages?
If so then, we should Pray
for God’s help to survive!

Dear editor,
Last week my foil for the
past month, Mr.C., issued his
swan song in an over lengthy
submission to the BTR. Apparently
defending the indefensible
is too taxing for him; the
mental gymnastics required to
do so are too intellectually demanding,
so he has suspended
his right wing letter writing
campaign. His retreat from
the fi eld, however, does not
inoculate him from a factual
analysis and debunking of his
extremist talking points.
Mr. C. professes ignorance
of the FBI’s assessment of the
terror threat posed by right
wing extremism since that
information did not appear
in the BTR, evidently his sole
source of information. A well
informed populace is crucial
to maintain a vibrant democratic
society, and a failure to
avail himself of other newspapers,
magazines, books and
electronic media may help explain
his reactionary worldview.
The gentleman will “defer
to the criminal statistics”
of the FBI, but with a caveat,
“taken in proper context”; context
undoubtedly determined
by the statistics conforming
with his ideology. Since Mr. C.
has “crucial tasks to perform”
I wish him well and hope he
continues to enjoy the letters to
the editor section of the BTR.
The COMACTA “think
tanker” has trotted out the
usual tired conservative
tropes, as is his weekly custom,
claiming that Democrats
tried to steal the election from
Trump by investigating Russian
infl uence on Trump’s behalf.
Unmentioned is the FBI’s
verifi cation of the Russian infl
uence. He is also concerned
by, get this, Democratic efforts
to insure a peaceful transition
of power, when Trump
has refused to unequivocally
state that he would respect
the will of the voters. Trump
said, “Well, we’re going to
have to see what happens”
when asked whether he’d
commit to a peaceful transition.
Not very reassuring.
Any readily available public
information that contradicts
the writer’s false narrative
is ignored. Why COMACTA
merits a weekly column is
mystifying, as the content is
nothing more than unsupported
right wing claptrap,
over and over again. Why no
weekly column by a progressive
organization?
