 To the Editor,
 Adding to the population
 in our small neighborhood
 equals overdevelopment and
 nothing good can come of
 it. Congestion on our roads,
 parking daytime or overnight
 is impossible. Schools are
 overcrowded, our Police Department
 is understaffed, and
 additional population brings
 more crime.
 The present administration
 both city and state have
 shutdown the courts, canceled
 bail for every crime
 and have encouraged the
 criminals. When will it end?
 No neighborhood is safe anymore.
  How can anyone even
 think of adding high-rise
 buildings in any neighborhood?
   What will it accomplish?
 We must correct conditions,
  not make them worse.
We must keep our low density
 zoning to protect our community
 and preserve our quality
of life. Say “no” to Throggs
 Neck Associates LLC., and
 “no” to upzoning. We will
 continue to hold rally’s and
 collect signatures. Please
 continue to attend rally’s until
 this problem ends. Remember
 we live here, the developers
 don’t, and we know what’s
 best for our community.

 To the Editor,
In a case book example of
 psychological projection, this
 week the hard-right columnist
 castigates Progressives
 for their alleged dishonesty,
a perfect example of the proverb,
  “The pot calling the kettle
 black.”
This from a man who on a
 weekly basis engages in fallacious
 arguments, character
 assassination and sketchy
sourcing to prop up his brand
 of extreme conservatism.
 In the author of the
 COMACTA column’s looking
 glass world, suppressing the
 vote is noble. Limiting voting
 hours, locations and voting
 by mail are effective tools
   Photo Adrian Childress
 in preventing working people
 from exercising their right to
 vote.
 The author would have
 us believe systemic racism
 can’t possibly exist, since it
is not enshrined in law. Can
it be that the author is unaware
 of the number of black
 citizens unjustly killed by police?
  Let me refresh his memory
 by naming those wrongly
 killed and the amounts that
 their families received to
 drop wrongful death lawsuits
 against the municipalities:
 Breonna Taylor $12 million;
 Freddy  Gray  $6.4  million;
 Eric Garner $5.9 million
 and Tamir Rice $6 million,
to name a few. Racism was
 the common denominator in
 these needless deaths, and
 somehow the columnist is
 startled by reports that only
 50% of Americans believe we
 have liberty and justice for
 all. Remove your head from
the sand and open your eyes,
 sir!
 The out of touch, hardright
 ideologue is dismayed
 and simply cannot comprehend
 that millennials favor
 socialism over capitalism.
 These young Americans have
 been buffeted by economic
 uncertainty throughout their
 careers, so this fact should
surprise no one. But wait, it
can’t be a failure of the system,
   it must be a conspiracy.
Yes, it’s the liberal infi ltration
 of academia and those
 dastardly Chinese investors
 that are causing millennials
 to think approvingly of
 socialism. When rational explanations
 don’t support the
 conservative narrative, the
remedy is to create a conspiracy
 theory. Attaboy, Frank!

 To the Editor,
 Happy Anniversary Bronx
 Times and Bronx Times Reporter
 for “Forty years in
 the making: The story of
 the Bronx Times Reporter,”
which ran online on Aug. 26.
 The Bronx Home News
 suspended publication in
1948. It was the last Bronxbased
 daily newspaper. Many
years ago, the New York Daily
 News once devoted several
 pages to Bronx news stories.
  Likewise, the New York
 Times ended the Sunday City
 Section which focused on
news from all fi ve boroughs.
 Today, daily newspapers
such as the Times, New York
 Post and Daily News concentrate
 on international, Washington,
  Albany, City Hall,
 business and sports stories.
 They have few reporters assigned
 to cover local neighborhood
 news stories. These
 reporters have to compete
 against colleagues for limited
 available print space. As
 a result, daily newspapers
 miss signifi cant news and
 political stories from Bronx
 communities.
 Weekly Bronx-based
 newspapers such as the
 Bronx Times and Bronx
 Times Reporter provide more
 in-depth coverage of local
news not found in major daily
 newspapers.
 We continue to be fortunate
to live in one of the few
 remaining free societies,
 with a wealth of information
 sources available. Sadly, most
 American cities and suburbs
are down to one local daily
 or weekly newspaper. Newspapers
 have to deal with increasing
 costs for newsprint,
 delivery and distribution,
 along with reduced advertising
 revenues and declining
 readership.
 Please join me along with
 your neighbors who read
 the Bronx Times and Bronx
 Times Reporter and other local
 weekly community newspapers.
  Patronize their advertisers;
   they provide the
 revenues necessary to keep
 them in business. Let them
know you saw their ad. This
is what helps keep our neighbors
 employed, the local economy
 growing and provide
space for your favorite or not
 so favorite letter writers.

 Faithful reader
 for decades!
 To the Editor,
 While I essentially agree
 with Frank Vernuccio’s latest
 column “The Left supports
 socialism over capitalism,”
several items I must take issue
 with.
 While I agree capitalism is
the best system we have, it is
 far from perfect. Our capitalistic
 system sees people such
 as athletes and musical performers
 making more money
 than they’ll ever know what
to do with, while those who
 perform vital services such
 as taxi drivers, deliveristas,
 and social workers barely
 making a living.
 When I was a sophomore
 in high school, we reviewed
the phrase “all men are created
 equal,” the cousin of “liberty
 and justice for all.” The
teacher said, “you got a guy
who can afford only a legal
aid lawyer, you got a guy who
 can afford the best lawyer
 money can buy, who’s going
 to get more justice?”
 If the Chinese are buying
more and more of this country,
who is at fault? The Progressives
 or the people that
vote — or don’t vote — thus allowing
 this to happen?

 To The Editor,
 When Trump campaigned
for president he said he would
 eliminate ISIS and terrorism,
he did just that. Isis ran like
 mice under Trump’s watch
 and our adversaries feared the
 United States’ defense, something
 Obama failed to accomplish.
Now, with less than a year
in offi ce Biden, Harris and the
 corrupt, power hungry and
 misleading Democrats have
allowed the Taliban to go full
 force as Americans are being
 held in Afghanistan, along
 with innocent Americans and
 Afghans being brutally murdered;
  infants also.
 We miss you Trump. Our
country needs you, not a senile
Biden or a Vice President Harris
 who when asked a serious
question just looks at us and
smirks and fails to address an
 issue. Gasoline is skyrocketing
in price; border crimes are at an
all-time high and our allies are
 viewing this current administration’s
 pathetic, drunken
 decisions in disbelief. Trump
 made America great again,
 Biden and Harris are making
 America dangerous again. God
 please help us, Amen.
