OLINVILLE PARK CELEBRATES 47TH
EDITION OF OLD TIMERS DAY
On Saturday, July 31, Old Timers Day returned to Olinville Park for its 47th year. Old Timers Day celebrated the
community while bringing together the “old timers” who lived in the area in the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. Old Timers
Day is a community event hosted by former Councilman Andy King, son of Old Timers Day co-Founder Andy
“Pops” King and DJ Bentley Bee. The event was sponsored by The Mall at Bay Plaza, the Bronx Youth Empowerment
Program and Theradynamics. Old Timers Day is a tradition in the north Bronx community where people
gather for good music from their favorite old-school DJs and artists, food, love and brotherhood. Guest DJs
included DJ Chuck ChillOut, DJ Barron, DJ Handz and DJ Breakout. There was also surprise guests and performances,
as well as a Music Appreciation Award ceremony to recognize local Hip-hop and R&B artists. After Old
Timers Day was cancelled last year due to COVID-19, many people were looking forward to gathering this year
and celebrating together as a community again.
