The Bronx Brewery announce dthe release of Hop-A-Shot on July 13. This is a partof The Up
and Comer Series where twice a month a limited-edition small batch of beer is released by
the local brewery. And the label is designed from up and coming artists in the Bronx and
NYC. The Bronx Brewery held an electronic arcade-style basketball contest for attendees
called a Pop-a-Shot. There were prizes for hitting high scores of 150 or more. .There was
also a sneaker drive to assist the residents of the Recovery Center. Project Renewal and The
Bronx Brewery teamed up to bring the sneaker drive to fruition, which will continue through

On July 11, the Morris Park Inn held its “1st Annual Motorcycle Run.” The event, organized
by the Morris Park Inn sponsors the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Steve Poli,
owner of the Morris Park Inn, was present making sure everything was in order and welcoming
attendees. New York State Assemblyman Michael Benedetto also joined the event
.Many that passed by and saw all of the motorcycles lined up, asked what was going on.
Some came back to give a donation, purchase a t-shirt, order food and drinks or watch the
soccer game. Stephen Siller was a NYC fi refi ghter perished while attempting to save others
on 9/11. Rick Ricciardi spoke to the Bronx Times about all that was done to bring awareness
to the event. Ricciardi said so many volunteers went from business-to-business to hang
posters to try and solicit donations. Ricciardi also wanted to thank all the bikers for helping
to spread the word. When the bikers came together to ride off, it was amazing. The faces on
some young adults were fi lled with awe. Following the ride, everyone got together to enjoy

On July 10, Friends of the Champ Organization held a “Brunch with the Champs” fundraiser.
The event was held at Morris Yacht Club in CityIsland. Iran Barkley, the founder and president
of the organization, wanted to raise funding and assist retired boxers in need, fi nancially,
psychologically and physically. Barkley knows success as a 5-time world champion
boxer. However,he also knows about living in despair and on the streets of New York. From
those experiences he founded his charitable foundation. In attendance at the event along
with Barkley was Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes, Vito Antuofermo, Al Cole, John Scully, Michael
Spinks, Junior Jones, Gerry Cooney, Larry Barnes, Mark Breland, Aaron Davis, Dennis Milton,
Micky Ward, Tim Witherspoon, Leroy “Moving Dee” Tuitt and so many more. Fans on hand
were so excited to be in the presence of such legends of the sport and have the opportunity
to converse, eat and drink with them. What a way to lift burdens while helping fi ghters
