As American mass media
and social platforms work to
misinform the public, it is important
to understand how important
lies are to the success
of the left.
Socialist regimes of all
types, whether they call themselves
Communists as in the
Soviet Union, National Socialists
in Nazi Germany, or Venezuela’s
Chavistas depend heavily
on suppressing the truth
and insisting that blatant lies
be accepted by the general public.
Hitler, in his infamous
“Mein Kampf” book, discussed
the use of lies so vast that no
one could “fathom the reality
that they were not the truth.”
His propaganda minister, Joseph
Goebbels, said it best:
“If you tell a lie big enough
and keep repeating it, people
will eventually come to believe
it. The lie can be maintained
only for such time as the State
can shield the people from the
political, economic and/or military
consequences of the lie.
It thus becomes vitally important
for the State to use all of
its powers to repress dissent,
for the truth is the mortal enemy
of the lie, and thus by extension,
the truth is the greatest
enemy of the State.”
In 2020 America, we are seeing
the “big lie” hard at work
in so many different ways, on
many different fronts. Consider
these items that are accepted
as fact, but are in reality
sheer nonsense.
The allegation that America
suffers from systemic racism
is at the top of the list at the
moment. Yes, there are some
evil individuals with hatred in
their hearts, some act on that.
But they are individuals. To be
“systemic,” laws, rules, and offi
cial procedures would have
to be in place. Since the end of
segregation and other oppressive
measures in the 1960’s,
there has not been systemic
racism.
The Democratic Party,
which alleges the existence of
systemic racism, is portrayed
as the political grouping that
helps Black Americans. Nothing
BRONX TIMES R 30 EPORTER, JULY 10-16, 2020 BTR
could be further from the
truth, and only the warping
of both history and current
events allows this fabrication
to continue.
Historically, Democrats
are the party that supported
slavery and segregation. Margaret
Sanger, who is idolized
by Democrats, began her campaign
to spread the use of abortion
because she believed too
many Black babies were being
born.
Since the 1960’s, Democratic
“poverty” programs have provided
numerous jobs to political
appointees but have done
next to nothing to truly undo
the poverty that is the legacy
of slavery and segregation.
When successful blacks, such
as Justice Clarence Thomas,
Dr. Ben Carson, or others
point this out, the leftist media
and Democratic leaders attack
them with everything in their
arsenal.
Two of the most currently
powerful leftist groups, Antifa
and Black Lives Matter, claim
to be organizations that want
greater democracy. That is utterly
false. Both have engaged
in extensive violence. They
oppose constitutional governance.
Neither is in favor of
free speech. They beat and batter
those who dissent. They
and their arrogant supporters
use every device including
physical threats and actions,
economic pressure, and more
to suppress those who do not
surrender to them.
Their drive to “defund the
police” and label their opponents
as racist is clearly a way
to eliminate any obstacle that
stands in the way of their illicit
push to gain power. These
actions are criminally seditious
and should be treated as
serious challenges to the continued
existence of freedom in
America.
Perhaps the greatest “big
lie” comes from the supporters
of socialism. Nations that have
adopted socialism have endured
loss of freedom, loss of
opportunity and a diminished
economy.
The USSR collapsed because
of it. North Korea and
Cuba are hellholes. The Scandinavian
countries are abandoning
it. The people of Venezuela,
who should be awash
in wealth due to their nations’
natural resources, are impoverished
because of it. Even the
Communist giant, China, utilizes
a limited form of capitalism
to build its economy. But
ignorant pundits, malicious
college professors, and those
seeking to diminish America
are all for it.
Goebbels would be proud of
his 21st Century heirs.

Young men are dying in the
streets of our cities approximately
260,000 young black men
have been killed in the United
States since 1980. 90% of these
killings were Black on Black
crimes. Where is BLM?
While statues are being torn
down young men are bleeding
in the streets of our cities.
While statues are being torn
down and desecrated, mothers
are mourning their dead
children. While marchers are
calling for the abolishment of
the police another young Black
man is laid to rest. While we
squabble about whose lives matter,
lifeless eyes are staring at
us from the grave.
While politicians sow the
seeds of malcontent by vilifying
the police and allowing looters
and arsonist to run unchecked
through our streets, another innocent
child is mourned. How
can any sane person allow this
to happen? We are either a country
of law or we are not. Politicians
have chosen which law
should be obeyed and which
laws ignored. It seems whatever
fi ts their narrative.
The President is constantly
criticized for not wearing a
mask yet not one word about the
maskless protesters. Churches
were closed but massive protest
were allowed. Double park your
car and you get a ticket. Set up a
tent city outside of City Hall you
get praised. Jaywalking will get
you a summons but take over
six blocks of a major city you get
food and water delivered.
What I see in the news is riots,
looting and arson while the
police are told to stand down. I
see statues desecrated and torn
down and offi cials yawn. All
this in the name of Black Lives
Matter. The message is lost.
Those tearing down statues and
demonizing the police couldn’t
care less about BLM — they’re
hellbent on changing the face of
America. They are using BLM
as a smoke screen.
Who suffers the most? People
in the inner cities where
crime has skyrocketed. Who
suffers most from defunding
the police? The inner city where
drug gangs run the streets. The
Black community is caught between
a rock and a hard place.
They want to see some changes
made in law enforcement so
they stand with BLM but they
are also Americans who fought
and died for this country. They
don’t want to tear it down they
just want to make sure all men
are created equal. What do they
do?
If they criticize they’re going
against their people, if they
go along, they’re swept up with
the defunding of police, the
takeover of city streets and the
desecration of statues because
that’s the message that’s being
conveyed by the media.
So, let’s get rid of the statues,
Aunt Jamima, Uncle Ben,
Washington Red Skins etc. How
about White House, Eskimo
Pies, Black Eye Peas, black
beans, white and yellow rice and
whitewash will peeping toms be
next? Maybe we should have a
contest to see how many words
or phrases we can come up with
that can be seen as racist. How
about Miss Black America or
Black Lives Matter? When does
the lunacy end and why do we
lend credence to these distractions?
It’s time to join together
as Americans and fi x what’s
broken without destroying each
other.
Congratulations to the organizers
of the “support your police”
rally at Loretto Park. The
event was well attended despite
all the threatening emails that
were being circulated before
the event. The fear tactic did not
work. What it did do was to alert
people to the possibility of confrontation.
Two of our elected
offi cials were quick to condemn
the Morris Park residences for a
confrontation outside the fence.
As usual, only one side of the
story was told and fi lmed but
that didn’t stop our elected offi
cials from weighing in. The
confrontation was caused by
those who came to disrupt the
rally and those who called for
violence against those who attended
setting up a volatile situation.

This year, as schools were closed we thought how to have an impact
on children and our community on Flag Day. As president of
the auxiliary along with my husband past post and county commander,
we visited over 10 families that had children or grandchildren
living with them. We even decided to brighten up some of our
senior members who have been sheltering since March. We were
so delighted to be able to visit each family, distribute fl ags and
see the smiles on all the children as well as adult faces. And we did
it safely. God bless the American Legion, our fl ag and God Bless
America. Photo courtesy of Judy Lanci
