FERNANDEZ MARCHES IN BRONX WEEK PARADE
Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez joined the Bronx Democratic Club in marching in the
Bronx Week 2019 Parade on Sunday, May 19 at Mosholu Parkway and Hull Avenue.
MONTEFIORE HOSTS TEDDY BEAR HOSPITAL
Local youth brought in their favorite stuffed animals for a ‘checkup’ with Montefi ore doctors
and nurses at the 12th annual Teddy Bear Hospital. In addition to the stuffed animal
checkup, the children and their families also got to tour a real ambulance, visit a mock
emergency department, receive an X-ray of their teddy bear, and learn important health
and safety tips from NYPD, FDNY, NYC Department of Transportation, NYC Poison Control
Center, Montefi ore Lead Poisoning Program and more.

COMMENCEMENT
Iona Prep celebrated its 100th Commencement
Exercises on Thursday, May 23 at Iona
College, marking a major milestone in the
history of the all-boys Pre-K-12 Catholic
school located in New Rochelle. Raymond
Bartoszek, a graduate of both Iona Preparatory
Lower and Upper Schools, and who
became the youngest Limited Partner of the
New York Yankees in 2011, was the keynote
speaker and winner of the Alumni Award.

SALAMANCA ATTENDS BRONX RIVER FLOTILLA
In honor of Bronx Week, Councilman Rafael Salamanca joined the Bronx River Alliance in celebrating
the 20th annual Amazing Bronx River Flotilla. The event aimed to raise money for a
canoeing program that offers free and discounted paddling adventures for Bronx families.

NYLAG MOBILE LEGAL HELP CENTER
Councilman Mark Gjonaj thanked New York Legal Assistance Group for helping his 13th Council
District constituents with free legal assistance related to so many issues from housing,
healthcare benefi ts, immigration, domestic violence, divorce and others.
