I am glad to hear that everyone
is following the buddy
system and keeping in touch
with each other, we can get
through this together.
It is my sad duty to report
the passing of Marine Jose
Enrique Quinones. Ricky, a
member of both Post 620 and
Chaplain of Marine Corps
League Yankee 255, was all
in as soon as he came on
board; always there to lend a
hand with whatever was going
on. His greatest pleasure
was transforming into Santa
every year — yes that was a
real beard — for our visits to
the V.A and the Post and Detachment
Christmas parties,
always looking to do for others
with his warm smile and
quiet way.
Post 620 colors have been
lowered to half mast in memory
of Marine Quinones who
has reported for duty to Heavens
Gate, slow hand salute.
Rest in peace brother, Semper
FI. We are stronger as one,
let’s work together. God Bless
America.

BRONX TIMES REPORTER,BTR APRIL 24-30, 2020 21
BY ANDREW CHIRICO
We have survived another
week. It goes without saying
this is the most stressful time
in recent history. New information
is broadcast every
day over your local news stations
and the electronic media.
Some information is true,
some is false. Listen and use
common sense. We will get
through this pandemic. The
best way to stay safe is to stay
home, only go shopping when
it is necessary and when you
do go out, don’t take children
into the stores. Keep your
distance when in a store, six
feet or more, wear gloves and
when you return home wash
your hands and face with
HOT water and soap. If you receive
a package or your mail
at your door wash your hands
and face after you bring the
package into the house. Clean
surfaces like counters and
door handles and if you use
a credit card in a store or gas
station use gloves and alcohol
wipes.
If at all possible, work from
home. I know many people are
on temporary furlough and
collecting unemployment insurance.
This is a slow process.
When you apply you will
go on to the NYS Department
of Labor web site and create
your account and then apply
for benefi ts. Remember to
write down your user name
and password as you will use
it each week when you certify
you claim. Because of
the high volume, the internet
is overcrowded and the
system is crashing. I suggest
trying late at night when internet
traffi c should be less,
you should get through. When
you do get through your claim
will be retroactive to the day
you were let go from you job.
For our seniors: some senior
centers are delivering
meals and for those who receive
Meals On Wheels they
are delivering too. I suggest
the rest of us check on your senior
neighbors and relatives,
call them by phone each day to
be sure they are getting along
and help out if they need anything.
Most pharmacies are
still delivering prescriptions.
Our churches are closed on
Sunday, mass is broadcast on
Facebook from St Benedict’s
and over the internet from St
Patrick’s Cathedral each day
at www.saintpatrickscathedral.
org. WPIX channel 11
will also carry Sunday mass
at 10:15 a.m. live. Please remember
to continue to mail or
drop off your weekly church
contributions.
As you may know by now,
the State is bankrupt thanks
to your governor and your
mayor. There is over $ 850 million
dollars from taxpayers
missing from the city thanks
to mismanagement. The governor
has wasted so much of
our tax money giving free college,
free food, free medical
coverage and driver licenses
for illegals, there is now no
money left for this emergency.
Don’t forget the raising crime
rate due to bail reform, tying
the hands of our police department
and preventing judges
from doing their job in court.
Remember the governor just
gave himself a pay raise. He is
now the highest paid governor
in the country. Going forward
city services will be cut, road
repaving and sidewalk replacements
will not take place
this year as it had in the past.
Summer youth programs will
be eliminated citywide.

If funeral homes were all the same,
Ours wouldn’t be the family choice
The families of our community so often choose our funeral home. Some come to us to pre-plan
arrangements because we offer all the options and choices they desire. Others come to us at their
time of need seeking guidance, support and the certainty of a funeral service that is correct in
every way. Should your family fi nd itself in need of our services, we hope you’ll make the choice so
many in our community have.
