BRONX TIMES REPORTER, M BTR ARCH 5-11, 2021 33
Marie Valerie Piccininni, 68, of The Bronx
passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021
after a grim diagnosis and a short battle with
Lung Cancer.
Marie was born on May 16, 1952 to Vera and
Harry Ferrari of the Bronx, NY. She graduated
from St. Helena Business High School in the
Bronx, NY in 1969. She met Mauro Robert
Piccininni in 1968 and they wed in 1970, going
on to have 2 children, Frankie and Mauro. They
later divorced in 1988.
Marie was quite the character, certainly one of
a kind. She would tell you like it is whether you
wanted to hear it or not. In the neighborhood
Marie was known for being a great cook. In the
90’s she worked at Charlie’s Inn for many years
and was known for her specialty dish Chicken
Marie. Later in the 2000’s she was the chef at
Brady’s Pub where she met some of her closest
friends.
Marie loved doing crafts, especially ceramics.
She also had an obsession with vacuums and
always seemed to have too many. She loved
watching General Hospital and if it came on
while you were on the phone with her she would
tell you “I gotta go”. We still say “they pulled
a Marie” when someone hangs up the phone
abruptly. We love her very much and will miss
her greatly.
Marie was predeceased by her Mom Vera,
Dad Harry, Sister Lorraine, Cousin Barbara
and Cousin Dana. She is survived by her sons,
Frankie and Mauro. Their wives, Jen and Nicki
and her grandchildren Giulia (22), Justin (18),
Mauro (17), Nico (14), Frankie and Anjali (8),
her nephew Joseph, Niece Melody and their
families, her boyfriend Craig Storch and her dog
Facheem, Fach for short.
Due to Covid 19 there will not be a wake at
this time. There will be a memorial service/
celebration of life at St. Frances De Chantal in
the fall.
