The Mount Vernon-based Barbuda
Relief Network held its annual food
drive in support of Barbuda on Oct.
23, which was supported by Bronxites.
Customers picked up Caribbean food
with a Barbudan twist, like dumplings,
ducana, seasoned rice, red snapper,
and salt fi sh cakes, to name just a
handful of options on the menu. The
fundraiser focused on Hurricane Ida
relief, as many islanders who evacuated
to Antigua are back trying to rebuild.
Supporters of the fundraiser
also donated money, toiletries, canned
goods and other necessities to be
shipped to the island.
