Meet & Greet Fundraiser For
NYC Mayoral Candidate Eric Adams
On July 27, there wa a robust turnout at Marina Del Rey, the waterfront event venue in the Bronx, for a
Meet and Greet Fundraiser for Eric Adams, the Democratic New York City mayoral candidate. Adams, the
current Brooklyn borough president, is a former NYPD offi cer and founder of 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement
Who Care. Some of the dignatires in attendnace to support the Adams candidacy included Bronx Borough
President Ruben Diaz Jr; New York City Councilman Mark Gjonaj; Marjorie Velazquez, a candidate for City
Council; state Sen. Jamaal T. Bailey; and Michael C. Brady, CEO of the Third Avenue Bid. Diaz Jr, spoke of his
lengthy relationship with Adams, inlcuding being alongisde him in the Soundview section of the Bronx during
the shooting of Amadou Diallo in 1999. “He has continued year after year, for decades to show integrity,
character and fortitude ... and that many of the things we debated, many of the things we fought for also
benefi ted the Boogie Down Bronx,” Diaz Jr. said. Adams cited scripture when addressing his supporters
refering to Jesus turning the tables over when some were selling and doing what they knew was wrong in the
temple. “I’m going to City Hall to turn the table over,” Adams said. -Jewel Webber
