BRONX TIMES REPORTER, J 4 ULY 26-AUGUST 1, 2019 BTR
of the order in 1987, was
elected president of AOH Division
3 in the east Bronx in November
2010 and served until
2015, when Joseph McManus
was elected president.
As president of Division
3, Nolan initiated a scholarship
program for 8th grade
graduates at every Catholic
elementary school in Morris
Park, Pelham Bay, Throgs
Neck, Country Club and City
Island.
The initiative was continued
by president McManus
and these fi nancial awards
were presented at graduations
in early June.
From 2011 thru 2019, the
brothers of Division 3 approved
awarding $18,000 to 36
students who used the awards
to reduce the cost of a Catholic
high school education.
The funds were raised at
the annual golf outing chaired
by past president Dan Donovan.
In 2013, Nolan was elected
county president, where he expanded

Bob Nolan (second from 1) iwas congratulated on his new position by
well-wishers, including Martin Galvin, National/State Chair Freedom For
All Ireland and Dan Dennehy, National Director AOH.

and local involvement in local
neighborhoods.
He served as chair of six
county dinners and breakfasts
where prominent Irish-
Catholic leaders were honored
and funds were raised to support
local programs and Hibernian
division in counties
in downstate New York.
In his new role, Bob will
be able to help the Hibernian
cause, not only in the Bronx,
but two other counties as a district
director.
I ran for higher offi ce to continue
to serve the order not only
in the Bronx but in New York
and Westchester counties, said
Nolan.
He was endorsed by all
three county boards in the
district.
Nolan was nominated by
Martin Galvin, newly elected
county president and national
and state chair of the Freedom
For All Ireland campaign.
I was proud to nominate
Bob because he has worked for
the past 6 years to help rebuild
our Bronx divisions, shared
county revenues with local divisions
and restored the Bronx as
an important player in the Hibernians,
said Galvin.
