What has Black Lives Matter
accomplished? They allowed
their cause to be politicized.
Politicians are pointing
fi ngers at each other trying to
gain a political edge, do you
really think they care? If they
truly cared they would have
solved the problem years ago.
Career politicians are jumping
on the movement now, why?
Think back to all the previous
demonstrations, what changes
were made?
What has Black Lives Matter
accomplished? It allowed
ANTIFA and their thug followers
to burn and loot many
family owned businesses in
the Black communities all
under the name of BLM. The
picture of the Black woman
standing outside her store crying
because her business was
destroyed, she’s Black, doesn’t
her life matter? It allowed gutless
politicians to allow lawlessness
in order to pander to
BLM. It allowed donations to
the BLM movement to be funneled
to political parties.
What has Black Lives Matter
BY TONY SALIMBENE
Hi again, proud vets and
faithful New Yorkers.
Just a quick note, hoping
all are doing OK and are adjusting
by now, if that’s possible.
Though there’s not much to
report, if you know someone
accomplished? Statues that
stood for years are being torn
down in the name of BLM. Do
you think BLM wanted Fredrick
Douglas’s statue torn
down; do you think they really
felt Columbus was a threat to
their movement? Once again
used by the extremist who
could care less about Black
lives.
What has Black Lives Matter
accomplished? It allowed
the leftist to demand the defunding
of the police. Once
again, the politicians misread
the will of the Black community.
They want meaningful
change; that doesn’t mean
the majority of Black Americans
don’t want police presence.
The police are the only
thing standing between the
people and drug dealers and
gang bangers. What makes
people think that Black Americans
want anything different
than the rest of America? That
thinking is racist.
What has Black Lives Matter
accomplished? A bunch of
disenfranchised privileged
white young people that have
not getting this newsletter,

I’ll fi x it. It’s a perk of Korony

way to support our local paper

no idea what it means to be
Black speaking for Black
America. Telling them what
politicians to love and which
ones are racist and should be
avoided as if the Black community
BRONX TIMES R 26 EPORTER, JULY 24-30, 2020 BTR
can’t think for themselves.
That is racist. Young
impressionable Black youths
watching police cursed and
disrespected, stores looted
and burned, city streets being
taken over by mobs intent on
the destruction of American
values while politicians and
community leaders stay silent.
So what has been accomplished
under the veil of Black
Lives Matters: Police demoralized,
shootings up, burglaries
up, rape up, all major crimes
and quality of life crimes up,
stores looted and burned, statues
torn down or desecrated,
race relations at an all-time
low, the BLM movement has
become politicized and the
message obscured.
What needs to be done? Rational
Black leaders along with
police and community leaders
need to sit down and iron out
what needs to change and how
the police can best serve the
community. The community
can help the police work with
the young people so a system
of trust can be established.
What needs to be done?
Laws must be enforced; had
they been enforced the BLM
message could have made a
positive impact on our nation.
Instead of staying on point,
the politicians allowed the
destruction of property, city
streets to be taken over, graffi
ti on public, building the demoralization
of the police department
and a rise in crime
that affects the communities
of color the most.
Change needs to occur –
it needed to occur years ago.
Why hasn’t that happened? We
have had both Democratic and
Republican administrations
so they can’t blame each other,
both had the ability to make
changes. Where were they?
Why did it take an outsider to
instituted prison reform? Why
wasn’t it done before? Gave
millions of dollars to bail out
Black colleges. Why wasn’t it
done before? The creation of
opportunity zones which gives
incentives to business which
come into minority communities.
Why wasn’t it done before?
Both parties seemed to
be satisfi ed with business as
usual and that’s not OK. We
need term limits so at least in
their fi nal term they will put
the American people before
their party.
A perfect example; the
owner of Goya foods, who donated
millions of pounds of
food to depleted food pantries
and employs thousands of Hispanic
Americans, praised the
President now the left is calling
for the Boycott of Goya
foods. A perfect example of
politics before people. The left
would rather people go hungry.
Disgraceful.

SWe are now in the full thrust
of summer. We hope everyone
has come thus far well and
safely. Social distancing
rules are still in effect and
will probably continue to be
in place until the governor
and mayor deem it OK to
discontinue keeping a 6-foot
distance between others and
wearing face masks while
shopping, going to beauty
parlors, barbers, etc.
We missed a whole season
of meetings due to COVID.
Presently it has not yet been
determined if schools will
open in September. Since Taxpayers
meetings are held in a
school cafeteria, we will have
to wait until September to see
whether or not our monthly
meetings can continue in
the cafeteria at St. Theresa’s
School.
We hope to see all of our
members and friends in September.
Please continue to
wear masks, social distance
and be safe.
