The new Chipotle
on Bensonhurst’s 86th
Street isn’t just your typical
Chipotle — it’s the
fi rst in the Big Apple to
feature a walk-up window
to pick up digital orders.
“Chipotle’s mission is
to cultivate a better world
by making our real food
more accessible to everyone,”
said Erin Wolford,
Chipotle’s senior director
of external communications.
“We’re thrilled
to open a new location
in Bensonhurst with a
walk-up window — the
fi rst walk-up window in
New York City — making
it more convenient
than ever for neighborhood
residents to enjoy
delicious, real food.”
The chain’s new outpost
— located between
Bay 26th Street and 21st
Avenue — opened on
June 30, joining about a
dozen other franchises
in the borough. The milestone
opening in Bensonhurst
comes shortly after
the nationwide chain
opened its fi rst Brooklyn
location with a drivethru
“Chipotlane” in
Sunset Park.
The walk-up window
feature is designed to allow
customers to pick up
their orders, placed on
the app or through their
website, without having
to come inside the
restaurant. The feature
comes after many city
restaurants and shops
built take-out windows
into their storefronts
in order to comply with
statewide coronavirus
regulations.
The national chain
has two other locations
outfi tted with walk-up
windows in southern
California and Chicago,
said Wolford, who added
that New York City is a
great market for more
features of this kind due
to its predominant walking
culture.
“While this is the
fi rst location with a
walk-up window in NYC,
the amount of pedestrian
traffi c across the city
makes it a great place to
open additional walk-up
window restaurants,”
Wolford said in an email
to Brooklyn Paper.
The Bensonhurst
location of the chain,
known for its counterserved
Mexican fastfood,
is open daily from
10:45 am to 10 pm.
